Testing on TFC has started!

Went to SFEG today and was very excited to see a train going through the TFC circuit. There was only one train at the time but by the time I left at 8:45 there were 4 or 5, possible six trains. They were running a lot, pretty much every other hour it looked like. I looks like everything is going right on scedhule.

ya. I was on or around Sidewinder most of the afternoon so I got to look at it a lot. At one time they were running three trains at once, and it looked good. I was talking to my supervisor and supposedly the most Zamperla was ever able to run at once was 5, so I guess we will never see 7 car operation, because it would be a blocking nightmare. An interesting fact- DId you know that the trains never stop moving, even when they are in the station? You have to load them while they slowoly make their way through. Because of this, there sill be about 4 ride operators for this ride, but the only main task will be loading and unloading. Imassuming that there will also be a fith operator to stop the ride if it is needed, but I am not sure. I wil probably be able to tell you in a week or so.

When I was leaving at 8:45(the park closed early) I over heard two guys who worked for SFEG talking about it and one guy asked if it was fun, but that is all I heard. Has anyone rode it yet?

BTW-Mustang, did you hear what happened to boomerang and Twister?

That is the way Disaster Canyon is supposed to be but we know that that never happens.

I missed most of TFCs stuff because I was at the Teacups all night, but at least it was covered :)

RubberDucky- I can't believe you stayed until the park closed, what were you thinking. And as much as I heard, both Twister and Boomerang were down for maintenance, the Boomerang train was unvalleyed a little after the park closed.

Yeah, I was on Twister the last 5 times it ran, and that is when they put Boomerang back in its place. I was at the park from opening to closing, I was kinda mad they didn't stay open till 10. During the time it was raining we would pretty much go on a ride, dry off, go on another, ect... We rode Mind Eraser in the front seat twice in the rain. I hit every ride except shipwreck falls, tower of doom, the carousel, and rainbow.

Twister was open all day I think, but they went from one train to two trains and back to one. But what happened to Twister, I couldn;t figure it out cause I was in the station when it happens.

They were filling up Disaster Caynon it looked like, but at the rate they were going it will take at least a week. But they don't open till memorial day anyway so...

Batwing and Chaos were having some problems, I got on both of them and they told us to get off so that sucked.

I was at Batwing when it screwed up around 3:30. It usually isn't very fussy.

Most of the water for Disaster Canyon comes from the reservoir lake by Shipwreck and Seadragon. But they do have that hose by Tortoni's Pizza.

I can tell you most of the ride ops were happy to close early. It is completely miserable to run the rides when it is cold and rainy. Cold wet metal makes your fingers numb. Since they are pretty much stuck at the ride, there is no escape to warm up. And then you add in that wind and it just bites.

Some comments:

It's great they're running two trains on Twister II.

It's great they're running all three sides on Tower Of Doom.

The San Jose Sharks are really good.

I hope to get to SFEG on May 18th for the opening of TFC!

J-They should give you guys gloves.

They should give the ride ops gloves, and I know it is miserable doing anything in that weather. I had trouble getting the seat belt for the mind eraser restraint undone. I can see why they closed the park, there wasn't more than 50 people there when it closed so there was really no reason to keep the rides running because they are loosing money. But they put it out to the public that they would be open till 10, that is like signing a contract, and unless the park is vacant I think they should have kept the park open.

I also hope to make it out next weekend for the opening, I definitly will be there sometime, but hopefully saturday.

Batwing needs to have two ops, I have only ridden it three times this year, but at all those times they have only had one op and it took forever. It screwed up twice on me yesterday, but the second time they didn't have to tell us to get off. I would really like to see the ride go to be quite honest. It isn't all that exciting and the wings don't really do anything. They could fit a nice size ride in there.

I don't really like Batwing either. It's good for relaxing and it seems extremely popular with little kids, so I hope they keep it.

Exclduing Tower Of Doom and XLR8R, my favorite flat rides are Chaos and Turn Of The Century. I have yet to get on Hollywood & Vine or Shake, Rattle and Roll, but hopefully that will change soon.

I have some questions, is there a new path being built to get to TFC? Where will the entrance be?

Usually the ride ops are ready with winter clothing during the Octoberfest and Fright fest. A couple years ago I went out and boughts some ski gloves for work, (Garts' Sniagrab is a good thing). The only problem is that it is hard to push the buttons with big gloves on. Yesterday this weather took most of us by surprise. It's been so dry and not so cold around here.

As for Batwing, it is classified as a single operator ride, so it has only one operator, most rides are like that, but we do double up if we can, which doesn't happen very often. Also I have seen a few people get the wings moving right, but I have no idea how to do it.

If you go on H&V, go when the line is short. The operator has to physically release the lapbars and there is a no single riders policy so loading takes forever.

The entrance to TFC will be by the base of Sidewinder's entrance, behind the Batman Arena.

H&V is fun, but does take a little while. I can not see Batwing going anywhere soon, I just wish it would. I can get the wings to move, but they don't do anything. The cars are attacted to the structure with metal bars, so there is very little movement anyway.

XLR8R was extremely popular yesterday, almost everytime I looked I saw someone on it before it started to rain.

J-I might have seen you on the teacups, I went on when it was raining so I was probably there when you were operating it. And do you know if anyone rode TFC yesterday?

Yes, people rode flying coaster yesterday. When I was on Sidewinder i saw someone hop on every once in a while. Im assuming thatit was mostly mechanics doing it though.

RubberDucky-Did you ride sidewinder yesterday? If you did it in the afternoon (after 3:00) i was the attendant. just fyi.

Referring to Boomerang and Twister, this is what I gathered. (neither are in my area of the park so im not totally certain) Boomerang valleyed between the second lift and the loop when the chain failed to engage the train for some reason (right J. ;)) It was returned to the station shortly before the park closed, and was back up operating today. Twister kept faulting out and getting stuck on the lift. That is all I know about that. I don't know if you noticed or not, but ME was down for a while too because of a maintinence problem/

Overall, yesterday was crowded and none of the rides worked, and today was deserted and all of the rides worked. If that isn't Murphy's Law, then I don't know what is

I wasn't on sidewinder after three, I rode it earlier in the day. Right after ME re-opened I rode it twice, it was so cold I couldn't unbuckle the seat belt that holds the restraint down. I wanted to go today to, but it was mothers day so I stayed home. Plus, it was more interesting yesterday with all that hapened.

I know sidewinder shut down for a little, didn't it?

Most interesting about TFC. It looks like an interesting coaster, just very short. Is it just me, or does it sound like this park has a couple of major operational problems?? I understand that particular day was in the rain..but still...

-----------------
X Looks Awesome! Oh Yea!!

It is early season so I think the operations will get better. TFC is going to be really short, but oh well.

SaxPlayer-We usually run fairly smoothly, but Saturday was just a bad day. the rain jept messing up Twister, Sidewinder closed because we were freezing our A***s off up there and the deck was getting too slippery, Boomerang valleyed because of Operator error, and Miind eraser had a kicker wheel fall off. It was just really bad luck that it all happened in the same day. The only long closure I knew about yesterday was that ME had to close so that we could get a shoe that flew off during the ride. I can tellk you that that supervisor was resenting the shoes and shirt policy right then. Other than that, everything ran fairly smoothly, and there was nobody at the park, so Sunday was the day to go
