Terror Alert on Orange

Today President Bush moved the terror alert up to orange. "Recent reporting indicates an increased likelihood that al Qaeda may attempt to attack Americans in the United States and/or abroad in or around the end of the Hajj, a Muslim religious period ending mid-February 2003," Ashcroft said. Ashcroft said the reports indicated that so-called "soft" targets -- those more lightly guarded, such as apartments, hotels, sports arenas and amusement parks -- are at an increased risk.

Another thing is, does anyone really think that we will get to the lower levels of Terror Alerts scale?

Many parks check you at the gate nowadays. Most are closed right now.

Lower levels? Never. It'll seem like a challenge to the terrorists.

Oh my God! It's 'Orange Day,' and Big Brother didn't call me in advance to let me know. I'd better start getting paranoid and scared before we're back to 'Yellow Day,' and I've missed out on all the fun.

The only way that we will ever be on the lowest level I think is if we nuke every country, and make sure all the terrorist are out of the US. In my mind, anyone who kills another person is a terrorist. And there is no way we can do that, kill billions just to say a few Americans? No way!

I know what you mean Chris, I think this terror alert thing is kinda alittle false if you ask me! There should be a better way of doing it.

Let's think about this...

Powell doesn't really provide any 'damning proof' to the UN, polls show that Americans aren't really as gung-ho to die in Iraq as many of our leaders would like them to be, and now we're conveniently at 'Orange' to rattle a few cages and get everybody in line.

Things that make you go 'Hmmm.'

Did anyone ever see the SNL pardoy of the terror alert color system? The believe the levels were "Beige," "Bone," "Taupe," "Coffee," "Eggshell," "Ecru"...well, you get the picture. Each had an alert description that basically said the same thing, making the colors and levels indistinguishable.
