tennessee tornado question

i was on the offical dollywood site and it said "riding the only spiro-looping roller coaster in the country" can some one explain this to me?? and if any one has pics? i would like them please thank you

www.rcdb.com has pics, and if they don't, nobody does.

TN Tornado does have some unique features but "spyro-loop" is a bad way to describe it IMO. In both of the vertical loops, the track kind of sways from side to side at the top of the loops, kind of like upside down trick track. Very scary, kinda feels like the thing's falling apart. There is also a very highly banked turn that is mostly upside down but it's not unique. Hope this helps.

The "Spiro-Loop" refers to the great big thing that looks like a BIG vertical loop, but isn't quite. That loop is actually stretched out laterally so that instead of the entrance and exit tracks being right next to one another, they are several feet apart. Meaning that the effect is that of taking a big helix and standing it up on end.

Or really squashing a corkscrew ;)

Ever wonder why it is when the media doesn't know the name of the elements they make up their own names? Like in the Daily Review they said that Medusa features the world's only back-to-back superloops. Now, what is a superloop supposed to be? If you go to any the park, any coaster park, or if you're lazy just pick up the SFMW brochures at Albertsons and you'll read that it's called a sea serphent. In Nickelodeon Magazine they talked about Kraken's opening and some 9 year old that won an opening day pass. What killed me was that they called the dive loop a twister and the cobra roll a double ollie.

There was a big discussion on this over at the Coaster Forum boards and I think that it was decided that the "Super-Loop" is actually a loop-screw. A sort of cross breed between a corkscrew and a vertical loop, since it's not quite either one of the two.

Ah, but the problem with using the term "loop-screw" is that it also unoficially refers to a popular old Arrow layout (one loop, two corkscrews). The thing looks like a vertical loop to me, even if the second track comes down a bit further than usual.

CoasterGallery.com will be adding Dollywood in a few weeks. Also, look for two other new park from TN!

(Sorry for the plug, but he asked about pictures...)

Is it just me, or did Vertigo just post a bunch of photos of David Escalante?

Here is my Tennessee Tornado 'stuff':

Also, the 'media' did not come up with the spyrolooper and loop-screw terms, but rather Arrow and the park did. The Tennessee Tornado is a spectacular ride IMO, with its only fault being its length. The lift goes up the side of the mountain and then after a fast turn dives through the mountain via a tunnel. When you are on the ride, the train appears to come to a stop in the loop-screw, giving an incredible feeling. Then there is a high speed turn and a very intense 'butterfly' inversion, which is a vertical loop followed by a half loop/half corkscrew.

How is this ride? Is it roughy like other arrow loopers?
