A teenager Saturday was struck and killed by a roller coaster at the Six Flags Over Georgia theme park outside Atlanta, authorities said. The 17-year-old park visitor was decapitated after scaling two fences -- one of which was six feet tall -- around the Batman roller coaster, park spokeswoman Hela Sheth said in a statement.

It was reported on Fox News this morning that the parents are planning on sueing Six Flags Over Georgia over the death of thier son.
This is meaningless without a link to the report. For example, it could have been an on-screen personality speculating, as opposed to reporting---as sometimes happens on Fox News. In particular, I can find no story---print or video---on foxnews.com that substantiates your claim.
In short: provide a link to the story, or go away. I'm ready and waiting to be proven wrong.

That's evidence---but so far, only of an ambulance chasing lawyer.
I still believe the kid was trying to grab/touch riders. How else do you get hit by a rollercoaster? You can see the thing coming and have plenty of time to get out of the way. He couldn't have been stuck in the tracks , they are over his head.
He was stupid. His family has no case. Six Flags is not responsible. They did all a reasonable person/company would do. They put up 2 fences, signs, and didn't have park guest pathways in the restricted ride area.
If the park decides to cover the funeral expenses then that's a positve public relations move.
"i think the famliy has every right to sue because they should of had peopel on guard so what if they had sings up what if he didnt see them what if he did?"
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! DO you have any idea how ridiculous that concept is? So every park that decides to build a huge thrill ride or roller coaster should hire guards to stand next to the 6 FOOT HIGH FENCES just to remind the occasional moron passing by that it is unsafe to climb the TWO fences into the ride area?? You're insane. And even if the kid for some unknown reason didn't see the signs (which i highly doubt - even six flags has those areas clearly marked), DO YOU HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT TWO SIX-FOOT HIGH FENCES AREN'T ENOUGH OF A CLUE?????? And the ride probably did have cameras as most rides of that nature do. Here's the kicker...Roller coasters are almost always powered by gravity, and can only be stopped in brake zones. By the time the kid got in the ride area, it was too late.
But make no mistake that is no fault of the ride, but purely the fool who jumped BOTH fences. Six Flags already gave the family all they should give - a weekend where the ride was closed out of respect. Other than that, Six Flags doesn't owe them a penny! NOT A PENNY! If you still think coasters are to blame, you should read the very detailed safety research that has been conducted on roller coasters in the last decade. You have a better chance of injuring yourself riding your bicycle in your backyard than on a roller coaster.
The accident is still tragic, and it is sad that this time, a stupid act proved to be fatal, but the fact is that it was still completely HIS fault.*** This post was edited by bsstweb 7/15/2008 10:46:41 AM ***

You can't sue Six Flags for something like that. That's like beating your head with a sharp rock in front of Wal-Mart and then sueing them for it because security didn't come out to stop you in time. Just doesn't make sense. What makes the situation worse is that there are clearly marked signs that say DO NOT ENTER! or something along those lines. I'm not going to go as far as saying that he deserved it but I will say that his action was downright stupid. And sure teens do stupid things like a lot have pointed out but coming from a being a teen myself., I don't know how many of us would do something that straight up stupid.
^ Already been beat to snot. Been round and around on that carousel one too many times.
