Tatsu construction is moving forward at Six Flags Magic Mountain, with the lift-hill and first drop now complete. The ride's first element, a 103-foot tall Corkscrew, has also been partially erected and is expected to be completed this week. An update of the ride's progress has been posted on ACN.

Well, if it is only at this point of the construction process, I think it is safe :( to say that Tatsu will not be open by Solace weekend. :(

Last year the park wanted it open for Solace weekend but yes, it's not looking all that likely at the moment. A lot can happen in 6 weeks.

With my luck it will be all built but they will be waiting on the state to license it and I will yet again be forced to watch a new ride test but not run. (X mocked me in October of 2001). :(

Great pictures, but when you enlarge them ACN's copyright date is from last year. They might want to change that.

Wow, that corkscrew comes very close to the Sky Tower. So interesting because I designed a floorless for RCT2 that does close to the same thing. Very nice job SFMM and B&M.

I'm planning my trip to be there the day after Solace, so that's at least 1 more possible day for it to be open :)

It seems that the lift is steeper than the drop. Maybe it is just an optical illusion, but it sure does look weird.

The lift *is* steeper than the drop. But at the top of that drop you're going to be looking 150-200 feet down to the walkway below, which is in a small valley.

Not just that, but remember that Silver Bullet also have a very shallow drop, and it did not disappoint, IMHO. Tina put it well when she said at Solace "Most. Underrated. Coaster. Evah!"

Progress looks good, I just hope they work on it hard for the next 6 weeks.

K, I probably could just look this up but someone can probably just answer it for me. So it's SFMM ahead of CP with their coaster count?
