I must first say that Talon is amazing. The best invert I've been on. (Which is really only Alpie, B:TR, Volcano and SLC). The sand filled rails are SO quiet.
My questions are: Is Talon the only sand filled B&M?
And which don't have a MCBR (Talon doesn't)?
And while I'm at it, not about Talon, but:
Which are the B&M's without the hop off the lift?
I know Nitro doesn't have it, but I know there are more.
I THINK that Dueling Dragons at IOA has sand-filled rails, but im not TOTALLY sure, and I think some other B&M's have it.
Kraken is the only other B&M with filled rails that I know of...
Funny, I thought Great Bear at Hershey was better than Talon. Not saying Talon was *bad*, tho.
I rate Great Bear and Talon so close that I would say that I like Talon better if I'm riding front row and Great Bear better if I'm riding any other row.
What are MCBR?

1)Raging Bull 2)Millennium Force 3)Medusa (SFMW) 4)Vertical Velocity (SFGAm) 5)Incredible Hulk, The
2 B&Ms which have no MCBRs are Iron Wolf and all B:TRs. I bet both stand-up Vortexes do too, because they are really short (one is shorter than IW!)

An MCBR is a mid-course brake run. Kraken is the only other B&M with sand-filled rails, and Nitro is the only B&M without a dip off of the lift prior to the drop.

yeah, medusa west also has sand filled rails and supports. It's one of the quietiest rides in the park!
Sand filles rails? What so you mean? How can rails have sand. Why? Does Medusa (West) have this?

I know so much about roller coasters. Have any qustions just E-Mail me at agomez@afes.com
I know running rails (and most likely supports) are hollow. To keep the sound at a minimum, B&M has come up with the wonderful idea of filling the insides with sand. I'd guess it absorbs the noise.

PCW 2002 - Nemesis doesn't have a MCBR. John Wardley (big cheese at Alton Towers) doesn't believe in using them and it causes a stop in the ride, thus a break in the entertainment.
I agree though I appreciate it allows more trains to run etc etc I prefer to go and keep going.
As for Oblivion, no MCBR as such but then the 3rd chain in the lift striicture (the 2nd vertical one) does function as a break, holding you over the edge of the drop. Bit of a 50:50 with that one.
