Talon: Is it a coaster yet?

The track looks complete or very, very close on the Dorney WebCam. And check out the CORKSCREW over the first drop...nice.

If CF wants to clone this baby for the other CF parks, I sure as heck won't complain!

PS to Legendary - When I first posted, I called it a corkscrew. Then I looked again and edited the message to zero-g roll. Guess i had it right the first time :)

From what I have seen of Cedar Fair they dont do clones much. They seem to like custom designed roller coasters much better. And come to think of it I do to. Not to say that clones are a completely bad thing. I just like to go to different parks to experience different things. Not the same thing over and over again.

Yeah, but they do come close!

VF's Corkscrew vs. CP's Corkscrew:
Same builder, same colors. VF's lacks the bunny hop before the clothoid (vertical) loop and ends in a helix. Otherwise very close.

CF's Morgan Hypers:
- Mamba's hill #2 has a slightly taller drop than SF's
- Mamba has a double-up in its return run
- Mamba lacks tunnels
Otherwise Mamba and SF are very, very similar.

VF's WT is fairly similar to both, but the turnaround element is a double 'S' curve and the tunnel is over the last two bunny hops.

Not identical rides, but strikingly similar.

I wouldn't mind a 'kinda' Talon at all. I'll even take a clone.

I with ya on that Cplaya. Knott's, you listening?

Thank you Disney, thank you...
Minor correction CPlaya -- That is a flatspin (or corkscrew) over the first drop, not a zero-G roll.

Thought you may want to know that! :)

But yeah, I do agree that Talon will be a very welcomed addition to DP. Looks like a stellar coaster.

Yeah, I hope Valleyfair gets a bird (CF Inverted) for 2002. Lets just hope they can save up their pennies this year and maybe if we've all been good and prey a lot to the Coaster Gods maybe VF will get an invert for 2002.

You build it, I'll ride it...eventually
even though it is kinda off topic, Steel Force has a double up on its return run, and the helixes are completely different on the two.

Would you mind explaining the differences in the helixes? I haven't been to either park.

Mamba has a double up on it's return run, but I'm not sure about Steel Force.

Steel Force does have a double up. Right after the 3 bunny and right before the s-curve into the brake run. Trust me, there IS a double up on SF, I have been on it hundreds of times!
Hey DorneyJunkie,
I am so siked for Talon! Im only 5 minutes away from Dorney! Steel Force does have a double up. I would know. Talon is the best thing for this area. I like it better than a lot of the other 2001's by the looks.

Peace

Okay, thanks, DorneyJunkie, I didn't know. I was just pointing out there was a double up in Mamba.

To prove there is a double up in Steel Force, I will give you the video.

Talon is going to rock, roll, and take its toll!
I guess my info means crap then. I agree, I live about 20 mins from Dorney and have worked there for four years, Talon is going to be incredible.
Also, the difference between the helixes can be seen in pictures, I don't want to type.

CPlaya asked: Would you mind explaining the differences in the helixes? I haven't been to either park.

Steel Force's helix drops then goes back up and then drops again.

Mamba's drops then hugs the ground.

if you still need more I have the release drawings of both rides to show you.

Also the transition of Mamba into the helix is a lot quicker than Steel Force's. SF almost has an elevated bunny hill before the helix.
