tallest/fastest through the years?

Does anyone know or know where I could find stats as to what was the highest coaster from '89 when Magnum was the highest to now? each year.

Is it true that when Shockwave at SFGam was built (I believe in 88'?) it was the tallest for that year?

It amazes me how tall coasters have gotten in the last 15 years.

225ft on the SP/PR whatever, only constitutes for the "Longest Drop" category. This is talking about the tallest point on the ride as for most of the coasters its the lift hill. Sure if you add SP's lift hill height (160ft) plus its height above falt land, it works out to be 260 feet or around there.

in 97 superman was built and hasn't been beat in height or speed, 100MPH, and 410 feet high. but a coaster is going up in japan that does 107MPH.
Shockwave at SFGAm was the tallest, but not the fastest. It also was the first megalooper, too. It wasn't even the fastest at SFGAm (American Eagle goes 66, Shockwave goes 65. AE was fastest wood until 2000, it is now number four).

The Great American Scream Machine at SFGAdv opened as the tallest coaster in the world in 1989, until CP opened Magnum.
I also think PKI's Vortex opened as the world's tallest coaster and also the one with the most inversions, but was taken over by Shockwave in both categories the next year.
2001-Hypersonic:XLC, Tallest and fastest compressed air launch coaster. Also only continious circut coaster with 90° accent and 90° descent.

Bruce, it's not hard to be the tallest and fastest in a category where you are the SOLE member. If compressed air launch coasters get their own categery, how about a category for purple painted coasters? What's the tallest and fastest purple coaster?

That's correct, it was tied with Desperado for several years as the fastest coaster in the world.
wasnt gemeni at CP the tallest coaster for awhile?
