Taking an Open Seat

"I mean really, doesn't it look better sending out full trains than trains with say, 3-5 seats empty EVERY ride? What's wrong with increasing your throughput? On Medusa, especially during opening year, we always let exiting riders stay on or hang around the exit...there were always spare seats and for the waiting GP, full trains = capacity."

Um, Rob, exactly how does you filling an empty seat after you ride once help capacity? You're one person going through the turnstyle once. You just got an extra ride without waiting, that's all, there's no increased capacity.

The situation you described above is still wrong, if it's against the park policy to ride again. Unless of course, the ride op says it's okay, then I don't see anything wrong with it. But if you're just waiting and snaking a ride without asking first, then yes, I think that's wrong.

Exceptions are coaster events, etc, where it's okay to snake rides.

"No listenin', you hear me?"
This happened to me last week on Ghostrider. It was closing time, and there was a completely 2nd row. This was the last ride of the night and they were getting the last people on, so there was no one else waiting for it. I decided to be a good enthusiast and ask for it. bad move. they said no. I was bitter about that, no one was in line. I would have strapped myself in quickly and been ready to ride. IMO this was just a ride op who was tired of people and wanted to go home for the night. Whatever. it made me mad though.

I will chime in here, because me and a friend tried this on Riddler's Revenge last month. The line was about 1 hour & 15 minutes long, which we had just patiently waited through. As we were exiting, I noticed a row with only ONE person in it. There were 3 empty seats (standing harnesses, whatever) on that row and the gates were already closed. The ops were NOT calling for 2 or 3 riders from the queue to come forward. (SFMM NEVER does) We snagged 2 of the empty seats and quiuckly buckled up, but a ride op saw us and told us we already got our ride and had to exit. The train was dispatched with the 3 empty seats in that row. I asked her point blank, "You would rather send out this train with empty seats?" Her response, "Yes." I know we have a few other ride ops in the house here at The Buzz, is this normal ride op attitude???

Where would the harm have been in us getting on the ride that second time? No other people were escorted to the seats, they still had to wait the same amount of time. What is the point of sending out a train with that many empty seats in the same row???

On the flip side, one particular Ghostrider ride op lets me fill in seats all the time. Usually ONLY when the wait is not all that long, 15 minutes or less, that way other people seem less likely to complain.

Personally, I see no harm in it.

People all you have to do then is sit at the exit line after riding then jump into any empty seats. Now what happend if someone stood there all day, he has done his first ride now he's intitled to ride as many time's without requeing. Its obvious no one listen's to park operator's when they say please leave throught the exit, I don't even look back at the coaster, I'm not slowing down the exit line just because I think I'm warrented the extra ride. What are you people standing at the exit line doing anyway, they are the same one's who wonder how come they don't load them faster.

The previous topics on this has many times in the past been brought up and closed for very obvious reasons... it's a breeding ground for a flame war, which is not tolerated in the CoasterBuzz forums. This is just simply the very same topic, cloaked under a different title.

It's not a good idea to start new threads on already closed topics.

Closed topic.
