System Requirements for RCT2?

Has anyone seen any information on the system requirements for RCT2? Personally, I hope they keep it from being too elaborate with glitzy 3D graphics and stick to the formula that made the original so successful-- good looking, clean, fast interface that didn't require a bleeding edge machine to play.
definetly

I would imagine that it wouldn't be much worse than the original one. Frankly, I'm not sure what the requirements were, but I was able to get a great image/FPS with a P3 450 mHz.

I bet most of us have something around (if not better than) that. I know I've upgraded since then... :)

The new game seems to be based on same gameplay as the original so the requirements would not be too high. If you look at some of the newer games at a store, you will see that the minimum requirements have been creeping up over the last year or so. Many games have minimum speeds of 400 - 500 mhz now. Just imagine how high the minimums would be if some people got their way and RCT2 was in 3D.

Well, I'm still running my old Pentium 200. The original RCT ran pretty well when I got it, and now that I've upgraded to 160MB of RAM it runs beautifully. I hope to be able to play RCT2 :)

You'll most likely need more memory than that. 160MB is chicken-feed in memory sizes. And your old Pentium 200 is likely to become severely taxed with some of the larger RCT2 scenereos and parks. Remember, he's not just making for bigger parks with more peeps with stronger AI, but also adding more animations.

It's 2002, and entire new 2Ghz Pentium 4 PCs are selling for less than a thousand bucks, with monitor and CDROM burner. I think it's time for some of you to actually consider upgrading. Start saving!

Considering how poorly software is written these days, yes I'll probably need to upgrade.

It annoys me that developers think they don't need to write good code anymore just because Intel and AMD are continuously driving clock speeds up.

Look at console systems-- they have to last 5 years with no hardware improvements and the games and graphics still improve-- because the developers learn how to program. PC architecture doesn't sit still long enough for anyone to learn it.

I finally upgraded from my dinosaur 300MhZ 48MB ram computer to a Dell, P4 2.53Ghz 512MB of Ram about 2 months ago. Talk about a differance in speed.

RCT used to take at least a minute to load now it's instant. Even surfing the web sped up alot.

I love Dells service too. I had a problem with conflicting software where it would just lock up as soon as your desktop came on. I called there help line and was back up and running in about 10 minutes as the guy walked me thru it on the phone step by step. Then he sent me an email on what we did and what to do if the problem happens again.

Chris Sawyer writes his code in assembler to get the most speed possible out of it. I doubt his code is full of wasteful "bloat".
