Supports, track unloaded in Six Flags Ohio parking lot

Posted | Contributed by Chip Wood

With a little bit of luck and a little bit of determination (well, mostly luck), the SFO: A Refreshing Look paparazzi snagged the first structure pictures of what's to come in 2001 at Six Flags Ohio.

Rumored to be a flying coaster, the dark blue supports now sit in the SFO parking lot, and you can be among the first to see what they look like. We weren't kidding when we said we were obsessed with this stuff!

[Ed. note: An additional report indicates that bright green track is being unloaded this afternoon (December 26).]

It seems likely, however odd that the company will be building a 115 rollercoaster right up front that will be dwarfed by S:UE and even Mind Eraser. This ride will not provide a wall that will prevent you from seeing into the park from the parking lot like The Villain. This will be the star attraction next year so I imagine that is the only way that it could be seen from outside the park at that height.

Well, let's talk about an incredible twist of fate, shall we?

For the past month, a couple friends and I have been planning a trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland. Well, we're all set and ready to go...

And the news of supports and track arriving at SFO come out.

We've changed our plans.

Tomorrow, we're going to drop by the park to see what we can see. This'll be the first real test of my new camera equipment, and I hope the photos I take are sufficient.

I'll tell you all where to find them as soon as I get the online.

I would just like to tell everybody that I'm taking a trip with my science class to the park a few weeks before it opens to the public for some thing where a bunch of area schools go and study coasters (sounds pretty coll eh?). I plan on taking a ton of pics of this thing to put on my page so feel free to go to it in the spring or venture there now if ya like. I just started it so bear with me.

Ugh. It's seven a.m. and I'm packing gear to go to an amusement park that won't be open for months.

I would have stuck around longer yesterday but priority was to get the pics of the supports online to finally announce that the park is begining to breathe again.

Around 2 or so this afternoon I should have a full report of what's out there, pics and all. Maybe even some speculation on name and theme. Who knows, maybe some theming items showed up in a different location of the park.

Here's to not getting harassed by Bainbridge Sheriffs- and to coffee. Strong coffee.

Well, it looks like a Vekoma to me, and it was released in the Cleveland Plain Dealer as a quote from the Park GM (Jack Bateman) that the height of the attraction will be 115 feet. Also i know it was placed in that area of the park, in part, because of its stable soil. Much of the rest of the developable land is on swamp. And it is much nicer to build something on flat, dry land.

I'm willing to bet that it will be a Dutchman.

Much thanks goes to Chip for being so generous in posting those awesome pics (with your 'multi-million digital camera') and postin em right on the site!

Thanks! Saves me a trip out there...

I just returned from SFO with some pictures of the green Track!

Thanx for the pics!

I'm sorta confused here. Everybody is saying this thing is going to be in the front of the park by SUE. If its going to be in the front of the park then why did they tear down grizzly run? GR is closer to Batman than Superman. Maybe its gonna be Riddler or Joker themed.
LOL.. hey Cypher, ten bucks says you saw my footprints :)

It was a CRAPPY day for taking pictures- can't think of a worse one in recent history actually.

Point is though, we're getting a Dutchmen, and hopefully it will be 'neatly' themed. I'm hoping a Superhero bud I think the odds are against me :(

Yep... that's Vekoma. Could still be any of their current products (Dutchman, Invertigo).

Thanks Nate for posting those pics. That double spine, IMHO, points to one thing only: Vekoma Flying Dutchman. Plus there's no second rail required for the A4D trains.

Now all we can hope for is this: less inversions, more flying time. On Stealth you spend more time on your back than in a flying position.
Chip-

Looks like you are ten bucks richer!

LOL!

Nate
The mess back by the Grizzly has nothing to do with the new track. That is part of another project alltogether.

And why would Six Flags place an Invertigo in a park with a Boomerang already there? Unless of course the Boomerang was taken out, but that isn't the scenerio here...
Track looks great. To bad there wasn't any pics taken with tags on them.

Could SFO theme this as the Green Latern to go with a DC comic theme.

Don't forget Riddler and Poison Ivy...

Riddler and Poison Ivy would belong back in Gotham City though....

Closer to Batman Knight Flight.

Nate
Could also be DOOMSDAY or Brainiac.

Both are villains of Superman

It will probably be named Green Lantern, and if it isn't, then its not a flying coaster, but rather an invertigo. Hey, its a possibility.

Will there ever be a park prettier than BGW?
It has to be a FD, why would SFO put a invertigo when they already have a boomerang. But I think it should be named Green Lantern, or Kyptonite. If it is named Kyptonite i think it would be cool to have the track glow green at night, that would be sweet. *** This post was edited by Matt13 on 12/27/2000. ***
Glowing track would look cool, especially with it right up in the front of the park.
