Superman: Ride of Steel to open at Six Flags America this weekend

Finally, after delays in construction and more delays in construction, S:ROS is about ready to open to the public on May 13.

Construction didn't start on Superman until January 2000. In less than a week, over half the lift hill rose in February. The track and structure of the ride were completed by the time the park opened on April 15, but more needed to be done before the ride was to open. This included building the ride's boarding station and constructing a path to get to the ride itself.

To reach SROS, guests journey back to Gotham City. A new path constructed alongside the Joker's Jinx leads thrillseekers to the awaiting Intamin megacoaster. Along the way, guests will encounter another new ride, the Krypton Comet, a Chance Chaos. Also new this season is Metropolis Gifts, a new shopping venue located near S:ROS, and Octopus, a polyp ride located near Shipwreck Falls.

The first ride on Superman on May 13 has been promised to the Coaster Zombies, whose founder is Sam Marks.

Superman is a great ride. I am proud to be one of the first riders of this ride. Though I haven't been on the one in Six Flags Darien Lake, I hear that it is very similiar in layout if not identical. Right now it is the top coaster for steel. What a first drop and the pacing except for the the end of the second helix is perfect. Great airtime. The more I ride it, the more I like. It is clever how Six Flags position looking down at all the other rides (they look puny compared to Superman). One ride and you will be hooked. It is even better that Apollo's Chariot and Steel Force (my former number one steel). After riding this coaster I am definitely looking forward to the Superman at Six Flags New England and Cedar Point. Congradulations Six Flags for building a world class coaster.

SROS is a ride that was well worth the wait. I rode this monster the second day it was open to the public and it is just awsome. the climb up the lift hill which has to be the steepest lift hill ever is followed by a first drop like no other Ive ever been on,almost vertical. The helixes are great a very fast, very smooth ride.If you get the chance ride it. I know I will put my season pass to good use just for this one ride.
All that i can say about this ride is PERFECT!
I have not as of yet seen anyone get off this ride who did not love it! Well worth any wait time. So smooth and well designed its amazing!
Superman the editor is just like the Superman the Ride: They both are very pathetic. This ride aside from a somewhat mild first drop put me to sleep. A good coaster should need to kill you and terrify you to the verge of death, not the Superman children and babies ride. One for the 3 year old.

-------------
Remember, as pathetic as the Millenium Force is,
the rest are that much worse. M Force sucks!!
To everyone,

Do not respond to CoastersAreWeak. He is just in this database to cause problems. If you see his messages delete them *** This post was edited by Superman on 6/21/2000. ***
