Superman at Six Flags America breaks lift chain

Posted Monday, June 5, 2000 12:43 PM | Contributed by Ben Ashley

On June 2, the lift chain of Superman: Ride of Steel at SFA broke, leaving riders stranded over halfway up the 200 foot lift hill. The chain then proceeded to slide down the hill into a large pile. Hopefully, the ride will be up and running within a few days.

[Ed. note: I was "lucky" enough to be on the train when the chain broke. See my trip report in the forums. -Jeff]

It was another crappy pile of steel anyway. Why couldn't they build the drop 90 degrees like a real coaster should be.
