SUF update

Sorry no pics. Hey everyone I just got back from my rides department training, and it was really tight and cold too. They took us on a tour of the entire park(except Gotham City), including the Superman Ultimate Flight site. It was absolutely breathtaking to get face to face with this superhero. The track looks so huge and smooth, and that pretzel loop is HUGE. The station is almost complete, and the station kinda looks a lot like the one on Batman the Dark Knight, but i could be wrong because the station was behind that huge mass of steel track. Also THE TRAINS ARE DEFINITELY ON THE TRACK. I saw them with my own 2 eyes. Two were in the station and the third train was on the transfer track all wrapped up. More good news is that I AM AN ATTENDANT ON SUPERMAN, so I will do my best to reach the 1500 capacity. My guess is that the ride will start testing THIS week because I have to go back to Superman on March 20,21 and 22 to learn how to work it. I don't think that testing has commenced yet for the simple fact that they still had one train wrapped up (although it IS on the track), and they were also doing something on the lift and in the station today as well. But construction is really moving fast. As I said earlier the station structure is almost finished. Cotton States still looks a hot mess. Still no pavement, and they also are building some kind of structure in front of the Bumper Cars. And the Viper's entire station has been completely stripped of any previous theming. They have also taken out a lot of walls of the old games that were beside the Viper's old entrance, so now you can see straight through the buildings and see the scream machine or see the superman from the other side. Also regarding the supposed tunnel that Superman WAS suppose to feature. My supervisor told me that initially the ride was slated to have a tunnel, but for some reason the idea was scraped. So no tunnel I guess :crying: The problems with Deja Vu have also been fixed and they will be putting many new games in the USA secion as well. My supervisor said that the only thing left to do to Superman is theming, queue line, and a little bit of tweaking. And the queue line will trail through the ride itself. They already have the lights on Superman because as I was leaving the entire lift was lit up. Well I guess that's it for me. The next time I update will be March 20, so unless someone updates before then, look out for me. By that date, the ride will be well tested, the station will be complete and theming will be well in effect with the construction of the queue, and the continued reconstruction on cotton states and the rest of the park. Also, for those who don't know already, the entire park will open at 10:00, and that is because of SUF. This class was 6 hours long and we had to take 3 tests where you have to get a 90 or better to pass (all of which I got 100s). I cannot wait till March 20 to get inside its station and pull down the harnesses and stuff and actually walk through the track and most likely witness this thing testing.
Awsome. Im taking the 4hr trip there this summer. See ya operating it, hopefully.

thanks SO much for the update, Ga_Cyclone. True, SFoG is a long drive, but one I will make happily. I will miss Viper, but this looks like one kick-butt ride...PLEASE keep us updated.

No tunnel eh? Sounds like another Superman ride that Six Flags decided not to go with original plans... (SFDL *cough*)

That would have been cool though, It is kind of dissapointing, even though it will still be an awesome ride. I hate when 'small touches' that could make a ride so much better get scrapped. Oh well.

Thanks for an update! I cant wait to ride it. It is gonna be one heck of a coaster. 1 month and counting.....

Batman Dark Knight station theme for Superman Ultimate Flight? Wow... how original.

Who cares Coasterman Mike? The station for BDK looks awesome anyway.

Thanks for update Cyclone. Sounds like there really is a chance SUF could be open on the 23rd.

I hate to gripe about people who gripe, but, come on. Is the fact that the station might be like a station on another ride going to ruin it for you? There's a lot more to life than being a spoiled coaster fan.

yea it could open but Cotton States is so bad theres not much chance anymore to get Metropolis done b/c they will be concentratin all on Cotton States to get it back together.

I agree w/ IOARules, the station does look awesome. And you might hardly be able to recognize it with the red, blue, and yellow instead of B:DK's purple, yellow, and grey station. Does the station really matter, anyways?

Sounds like a sweet ride. I will be making a trip there in July. Hopefully I'll see ya operating it

You are all welcome. I'm glad I could help. I really hope they started testing today, because yesterday it look like they were about ready, except for that one wrapped train. And I wish I could operate it, but I'll just be an attendant. I would have to get promoted to be a ride operator and i would have to pass another probably more difficult test to operate it also, but at least I can still keep the lines moving fast by checking restraints quickly. Also remember everyone, I said the station looked like B:TDK's station because I saw the rings on the top in the middle and I saw the roof sloping down from that. But I was looking through all the track and supports, so it could be a new design. I was standing behind the little building they built to the left of the Bumper Cars and I was right beside the first drop.

Well, don't get overly excited Ga_Cyclone... SF has a weird way of promotions...

OK. You may get to operate SUF as an in-charge (below asst. foreman). IF all goes well, You'll be promoted to a third in-charge (basically asst. foreman #2) or just an asst. foreman. However, you will probably be moved to another ride by this time (if you ar promoted). They put beginning foremen on "low" rides (Wheelie, Monster Plantation to name a couple) and you work up from there.

SUF, unlike other rides, already has an asst. foreman in addition to the foreman. Around the beginning of summertime they'll start moving foremen around to get them trained on different rides. This is when promotions occur.

Yes the tests are hard, but it depends on the rides. Obviously a coaster's will be longer and harder than Wheelie. If you want to be promoted, let both your foreman AND supervisor know. Work hard and be professional and you should be all set.

I have something to add. Don't think you'll be checking the restraints too fast. I saw a real enthused kids checking them really fast and keeping the line moving. He was an attendent on the Mind Eraser @ SFNE. He was doing such a good job that the train coming into the station didn't even have to stop at the second brake run. I've seen a train wait there longer than the ride lasts on some occasions. Then, his foreman comes up and tells him to slow down. Jeez, does SF not care about capacity or what?

Also, I don't know if this is standard but unless you are over 18 you won't be able to be a ride-op, just a ride attendent. That's what happens @ SFNE, at least.

You have to be 18 to work at SUF, but not at other rides at the park. SFOG is trying to raise the bar by requiring that foremen have to be 18 at all rides. I think it's a good idea.

Safety before capacity...if the kid was told to slow down, it must have been because they felt other rider's safety may have be at risk.
