Stupid Question

Okay, my boyfriend and I are having an argument about whether or not "Mouse" rides (Mad Mouse @ MA, Wildcat @CP) are coasters or not. I say they are and he says they are not! Please someone tell him I am right! Thanks!
You're right. Really.

Stupid answer: Of course they're coasters. And at the most basic level at that... chain lift pulls up, gravity pulls through course. If that's not a coaster, what is?

Oooooooooohhhhhhh!!! Take that Magic Mountain!!!

*Just realized he probably started a huge debate about Superman: The Escape. Or is it Krypton Coaster? Or Ultimate Escape? Or Batman? Or Riddler? Oh well, all those uninventive SF names are goofy.* He He He!!!

Sorry.

That's OK, SFMM has one of those too! Freefall. (if you squint, you can see it below the twisting track of the Riddler's Revenge) It still runs, I think.

Gotta ride 'em all!
I consider them coasters. They have cars that roll on wheels on top of a track, effectively making them roller coasters.
i think, please try and follow me here, that there are exceptions to the rule just like most rules. i think that if it has only one car (first generation, s:te), than it is not a coaster. suzy is a coaster, s:te is not. atleast they didnt count both sides as a seperate coaster. that would have really made me mad.

punk: My suggestion is that we dont even try to make a "definitive" answer. If I so chose, I could shoot all types of holes into your definition. For example, some wild mice have only one car (e.g. RoadRunner @ SFKK). If you mean one car and one car only, then I would say that the 1st gen freefalls each have three or four passenger vehicles. It's not simple. So let's all just agree to disagree.
lata,
Jeremy (who actually thinks if it has wheels rails and at some point is powered only by gravity, it is a coaster. E.g. S:TE & Edge = coaster, Disaster Transport = not coaster =])
Catherine, using the logic of Jeff, then Demon Drop is a coaster. Chain pulls up and gravity pulls down. Demon Drop is not a coaster by any stroke of imagination. Punk has it right when she says the number of cars can determine if it is truly a coaster or not. Every track ride is not a coaster, but we can agree to disagree on the defintion of coaster or even what the meaning of "is" "is"? hahahaha! Let's just say it, like a lot of definitions can be open for debate.
