Stupid People who do Stupid Things.....

Im just wondering what you have seen people do that was a little too much on the dumb side. whether it was just something ignorant, or if it actually caused injury or death. not everything is posted in the news because not everything can be caught. one thing that comes to mind is the guy that wiggled out of the restraint system on Shockwave at PKD.

I havent personally seen anything because i cant exactly get to parks all the time because im not able to transport myself there(im only 15).

so what have you all noticed?

Only thing I've seen is a girl standing up on a log flume at Dollywood. And when I was young and stupid I used to take the seat belt off on rides like CP's mine ride and KW's Jackrabbit (the latter - HUGE mistake).

I saw a guy on SFMM's Viper wiggle out of the OTSR when the train was in the final brake block and the ride was down for technical. He just got out of the train onto the brake platform and walked to the station. It wasn't particularly stupid, but if he had fallen and hurt himself, you know he'd be suing. He got escorted out. The rest of the train got a free ride.

The legend lives!

How the hell did he wiggle out of the restraints on Viper?! I know it was stupid, but I have to give that guy some credit for being able to get out of those. How big was this guy?

It's easy to wiggle out of an OTSR if you can dislocate your shoulder(s). I saw some guy do it on Xflight when it was broke down. Those deputies sure got there quick.

The dumbest thing guests do is go into ride infields for lost articles when a coaster is in operation.

I'd have to agree with you on the Shockwave incident. I was there that day, but I wasn't around at the time. I rode it earlier that day. When I returned to that area, the ride was closed, and I was wondering why. That next day, I saw the news. =( It was sad, but Stupidity can get the best of you.

I love watching people hopelessly walking throughout the park with a Map glued to their face trying to find a ride. Oh how I snicker!

I'm sticking to my original story unless/until I hear something different.....the guy on Shockwave HAD to be trying to kill himself. If anyone knows anything to the contrary, I'll be happy to reconsider....

NOT implying that it wasn't stupid, just that it wasn't an "accident"...

Wow this is a morbid topic.

Touch The Sky

The funniest thing I ever saw at a park was at Knotts a few summers ago. Myself and a few friends were in line for Supreme Scream. There was this guy that looked like a complete moron with a really hot girlfriend. We were trying to figure out how this guy was with this girl, and he turned around and had a homemade shirt that read "Jackass." We busted up laughing. (This was before the show on MTV by the way)

Anyway, him and his girlfriend were sitting on the ride getting ready to go up when the girl kicked her flip-flops off. He is wearing a pair of cross trainers and starts to untie his shoes. He kicks one off and has trouble with the other. The ride starts to go up and he is still struggling to untie the other shoe. My friend yells "Look at that Jackass!" at the top of his lungs and everyone in line starts cracking up. He finally gets the other shoe off, but by that time they were already about 15-20 feet in the air. His shoe falls and hits this ride op in the head. It was the single funniest thing I ever saw at a park, and everyone in line was crying they were laughing so hard.

I thought that guy was pretty stupid/dumb!

Did he get ejected from Knotts? OMG that must have been so funny! I haven't seen that many things but I was once at SFNE and I was waiting in line for Scream and I heard some moron tellin his friends to ask the operator for a last shake and not let go. I was just laughing and was like that would be funny! (Sarcasm)

Cedar Point gets "twisted for 2002"
Great Escape gets "screwed for 2002"

I saw something that scared me pretty bad last year at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. I was waiting in line for X-Flight and all of the sudden all attention is directed back, towards the first drop and such. There are two teenagers who had jumped the parking lot fence and was running UNDERNEATH the track and to the fence next to the X-Flight line. I was scared out of my mind. It was like a begining to a Six Feet Under episode. A guard who was watching over the line caught them quick and escorted them out. I still get shivers when I think about it.

LoCoSuMo! originated by Mamoosh.

I used to work at IOA. At least once a day Ripsaw falls would have to be e-stopped because some idiot didn't want to get wet on the big drop and would jump out at the top. These people are very lucky to have ride opps who pay attention because if the jumpers timing is off just a few seconds, they could be dropping down the chute without a log to sit in. OUCH!!!

"Where's the Magnum Force?" "What time does the 10'o clock laser show start?"

One time when I was working on Raptor, a guest lost his hat and it flew into the transfer area. When he got off the ride he decided he couldn't wait till the end of the night for us to get it. So he was about to run into the transfer area to go get it, and at the same time, there was a train about 20 ft away from him. Luckily the person at Unload 3 caught him before he got too close. It was a close call. He really would have got in trouble if we had to hit ride stop because of him.

I've seen worse on Supreme Scream.
Once, just a few months ago, a guy decides to take a full frekin water bottle up to the top of the ride so he can drop it. He drops it at the top, and everybody near the ride screams as the water bottle is literally floating in front if the car. It hits the ground only about 3 feet from waiting guests, and the ride operators allow him to walk away with his water bottle.

On my next visit, while on supreme scream, some kids decide to take a coin up on the ride to see if it floats. About half way up the tower the car slows, and then it comes back down. Goes to show how screwd up the ride ops. are.

Once upon a time, back in the day, when the American Eagle at SFGAm used to sport no trim brakes, they used to also sport no seat dividers, one giant lap bar, and seat belts. Lets just say we witnessed two individuals riding the Eagle like they were water skiing.

The train came into the station and they were arrested. FOOLS!!!

The three dumbest things I have seen at SFOT in the past two seasons were

1) Two people standing up on Shock Wave. Security was waiting for them at the exit of the ride. I later found out that they got their season passes revoked and were escorted out.

2) About 20,000 people stand up on Runaway Mine Train

3) A ride operator jump the track in the Texas Giant's station. That takes the cake.

I can get out of the restraints on a B&M by dislocating my shoulders...it's actually pretty easy.

Whats so stupid about this, it really isn't that far nor is it in the least bit dangerous, should the person be coordinated enough to jump a few feet. It doesn't sound to me like he did it when a train was moving through the station or anything.

So what if the best coaster in Australia is a second hand Arrow?
http://www.totalthrills.com

While working at USH we had a few people do stupid things,

Jump out of the boat during a back up because they were scared that the ride had stoped.

Open umbrellas in the drop to stay dry.

But the worst,Some guy climed over the railing and went into the water in the splash down area to get his hat that was floating in the water. Luckly the drop Lead saw him on his camera before he droped the next boat. That would have been ugly.

On a more recent note, I saw some Moron riding on the Matterhorn backwards just last week. He was turned around facing backwards holding on to the back of the seat.
