Don't you make sure you have all your belongings before you leave a ride, and in essence the park as well? Must've been a pretty darn expensive cell phone to go back for it.

Breaking your back has got to hurt. Too bad the hospital bill is going to be much more than replacing the phone :(.

Looking for a cell phone...on a rollercoaster? Smooth.

Edit: I forgot that she could have been in the station.

And to think that she isn't going to get a Darwin Award.

The article sttd:

(She wasn't arrested. Friends in Brookfield are organizing dinner drive to help take care of the woman as she recovers.)

There organizing a dinner drive! If i do something stupid and outright dumb I wonder if someone will organize a dinner drive for me? (probably not!)

Your Park only has 1 good coaster! That's too bad!

Oddly enough, alot of people do NOT realize this. During park operation, I've seen people that were willing to, and in a few cases have, jump fences into restricted ride areas while the ride is in motion to retrieve there precious little hats that they wore on a ride that goes 50+ mph.

Oh, the irony.

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

There must have been some pretty important numbers saved in that phone to not wait for the park to open the next day and check lost and found.

I wonder how long it will take some scumbag, leech of a lawyer to pick this up and try to sue the park for her trespassing after hours and getting injured.

Stupid people shouldn't breed!

I'd appreciate that. From now on, everyone please check with me before you post anything.

Actually, if you'd quoted the phrase right (stupid is AS stupid does), you would have had room for the "too." I'm just giving you a hard time though - sorry, I'm an editor, this is how I get my kicks. ;)

Try a colon : followed by a right parenthesis ). Or a semi-colon ; for a sarcastic or winking smile.

I am assuming the coaster they are referring to is the Giant Dipper at Belmont Park?

Yes, Kick the Sky, you are correct. I heard the end of the story on a talk radio show here in San Diego several days ago.

For those who haven't been Belmont Park it has no entrance gate. The only thing keeping one away from being inside the coaster's footprint is a chain link fence w/ some razor-wire in spots. The coaster is next to many popular beach bars; this has probably happened before on a not-so-slow news day.

The irony in this incident is, the cell phone probably was stolen or in lost and found by that point.

This reminds me of the incident a few years ago when a park customer was killed after he jumped a fence to retrieve a hat from an operating inverted coaster. A rider also was injured by that idiot.
