Stricker's Grove: What's The Deal?

Has anyone been to Stricker's Grove in Ohio? I hardly ever hear anything about the place, which is odd because its on Ohio (where many Coasterbuzz members seem to reside) and has two wooden roller coasters. By the way people fail to talk about it, you would think that the park didn't even exist!

Perhaps part of the problem is that it isn't really a park, but rather a private picnic grove that opens for just two days a year to the general public. The place looks really nice- in addition to the coasters, it has some flat rides, a train and even Flying Skooters!

If you're curious, you can check it out here.

I have been there, it's one of my favorite places to go! I love the Tornado, and most of all, they have some AWESOME teacups! You can get those things spinning so fast that the ride op won't be able to stop you at the end of the ride! They also have friendly staff and fresh cotton candy for only a buck! The flying eagles were a lot of fun too. Make sure you visit this park, because if you don't you are missing out on a great time!

Stricker's Grove is one of the best amusement park deals around. The Crazy Dazy is one of my favorite rides and the flying scooters are pretty good for a portable model. Tornado is a really fun medium size coaster and Teddy Bear is a great little junior coaster. It may be primarily a picnic grove but it the whole place gives off a great old classic amusement park vibe. The carousel even has an operating band organ which is more than a number of larger parks can boast.

The park usually features free parking, free soft drinks and dirt cheap food on the public days. They are indeed open on Sept. 27, admission is $8 (visitors to the last public day in August got a coupon for $1 off) Ride hours are noon-3 and 4-7. Rides close between 3 and 4 but the food and games stay open (Is this a sneaky way to force people into the skeeball parlor?)

I meant to post a trip report after my August visit but I got lazy and never did. I did take pictures and they can be seen here.

Must have been my brother Rob, who can snap em as good as me. On july fourth there was one person other than me snapping like crazy and I met up with him and said you do that pretty well! He said YOU taught me refering to me at Lesourdsville Last year.

Chuck, who didn't remember the guy till he said that. I must be getting old and senile

What's the Deal?

It's a GREAT DEAL!!

My wife and I love this little park. It's comparable to going over to a friend's house (Mr. Stricker...who you litteraly go over to his house right on the premise) and ride some of his cool toys in the backyard.

As mentioned above it's not talked about since most haven't been to the place.

My favorite ride is the very rare cuddle-up.

The park is not something that average Ohioans would make a trip to at the start of the season, but it's like a park you do like a "Sunday Drive." Take a picnic basket hang out with the family, etc.

As for all the information and pictures you might want:

If you want to know anymore or have any questions, let me know...the park is definetly worth stopping at once if you can :)
