Stratosphere to unveil new thrill ride

Posted | Contributed by Otto

The Las Vegas Planning Commission has voted 5-0 to approve a new thrill ride for the Stratosphere. The proposed ride will use a teeter-totter device to flip passengers over the edge of the 1,149-foot building's observation deck -- and then hurl them back to the safety of the deck.

What kind of ride is this supposed to be? I don't know if I have ever seen an amusement park teeter-totter.

The only memories I have of a teeter-totter was that if you were in the air, and the person on the bottom was getting off, something bad was going to happen.

I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

OK, Why not set up one of those new S&S coasters that zig-zag vertically over the edge? Cruising into nothingness then whoa, ground 1100ft below!

whoa that sounds awesome, i'm either thinking it will be a top scan, or something along those lines, a really high flat ride lol

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

The Stratosphere ride is the interactive rides Sky Skater Extreme. Knott's just opened the regular sky skater, called GR8 SK8 in Camp Snoopy.

The ride is what it says: a big see-saw with a skateboard on the top. The see-saw moves up and down, and the car rolls back and forth before being caught by copper brake fins on either end of the see saw.

Even the little KBF version gets going pretty fast before it hits the brakes. This one should be a very insane ride... But a lot of fun.

Placement of the ride, staff said in the report, will "minimize impacts to the adjacent area."
Impacts? Of people hitting the pavement?

Have you ridden a Toboggan?

... hahaha. The biggest concer about previous proposals was the noise it would generate for near by neighborhoods. I assume that the minimized impact will be on that, and not the paying customer!
"Booo" to the roller skater. I think they should remove the S&S tower and put in a Huss Topple Tower instead. Or a Giant Frisbee, but I'sm not sure that's possible up on top.

But I can dream can't I?

This sounds almost like an article from "Absolutely Relicable News".
What is a teeter totter ride??? I've never seen one of these rides before. kl
I'd rather see the giant Arrow Fishook. Alas, it's not my call.

Pictures of what the ride will be.

Basically, it is a teeter-totter, except the one side of it will send you going off the edge of the stratosphere.
