The Stratosphere hotel-casino in Las Vegas is removing its High Roller thrill ride. It opened along with the building almost ten years ago.

I'm glad I got the credit Monday night.
I wonder if the SCAD jump thing will be put in its place?
That coaster is boring but you get an awsome view of Las Vegas. :):(:):(
These people are crazy. A roller coaster 900 feet in the air isn't scary enough.

I doubt anyone is going to miss it.
intamin rocket? ;)
I've ridden better merry-go-rounds. Here's hoping for something better to take it's place.

The best coaster in Vegas and the only one worth riding (vs. cost) is being removed. :(

Oh, and if they're looking for another ride with an "exemplary safety record", the SCAD jump isn't it. Just ask anybody who was at IAAPA Expo in Orlando 2002.
Does anyone know about when it's going to close? I'm going to try and drive out to get the credit soon.

"The High Roller will be dismantled in stages over the next three months."

Sounds like it may be too late to get the credit.

Rihard, I did that SCAD tower at that IAAPA...

The fishhook WOULD have been the appropriate replacement ride...no one is going to miss HR, the only thing it offered was the view...but it DID make the entire observation platform a scarier place to be... ;)

edit: Ironic how recently we were talking about them NOT adding new rides up there...through *removal* it looks like they CAN add new rides.. :)*** This post was edited by rollergator 12/24/2005 2:39:21 PM ***

I've never even rode it before...and I won't miss it! I've just heard there really isn't much to it. Especially compared to the other three rides on the premises...now those even look scary!
The last day is December 30 according to RRC.
Probally making room for thier water park.
It's true that it's the mildest ride on the tower, and that there'll be few tears shed for it - but I hope the operators install something mild in at least part of the space freed by removing High Roller. It's no harm to have some way for people to work up to stuff like X-Scream and Insanity :)
Rihard, thanks. Not sure how I missed that in the article. Guess I just have a lot going on this week.

This is that 'selective preservation' thing at play isn't it? :)
Looks like the last day of operation will be the 30th. Maybe I'll get to ride after all, but the strip this time of the year is just a pain.
