Storm Chaser (The 'forgotten' RMC)

So, I keep forgetting about this coaster because not many people seem to be talking about it, but this is another RMC coaster for 2016, on the east coast, and is really looking amazing. I haven't been to Kentucky Kingdom since it reopened, but will very likely go this year since it has Lightning Run and Storm Chaser (and already had Thunder Run, which is amazing). These pics show it off, and it really is looking great.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I think everyone is salivating so much over Lightning Rod's quadruple down and launch that the other quite promising coasters have been kind of pushed aside. They all look fun to me, but then again, I haven't ridden a single RMC, so my curiosity and anticipation is sky high. I'm trying to sell a kidney so I can go to Dollywood for an enthusiast club event. Everything else takes a back seat (no pun intended) for me when I look at Lightning Rod and then I look at the other RMCs I have not ridden. I'd be willing to guess other people are thinking along the same lines.

Maybe I'm in the minority on this one, but my first RMC was Twisted Colossus, and I can't say I was blown away. It is, however, the only RMC I have managed to get on thus far.

In my opinion, there's something about the way they track, the noise they make, and the way the cars feel around me that doesn't feel right. I suspect that Twisted Colossus may not be the right one for a blow-away experience though, as perhaps it was more solidly focused on two train interaction than the forces they provide?

I won't get to ride till late next summer but Goliath, Tx Gigante, and Rattler are all very good.

Yeah you haven't been on an RMC yet. Twisted Colossus is a family coaster compared to the others. Not to mention, headache inducing rough. One of the worst coasters in existence.

I haven't forgotten about Storm Chaser. After missing HWN '15 and Lightning Run (along with the newly-retracked Thunder Run), I was super-excited to hear about this!

The Twins being transformed, IMO, is more like losing Rattler or Colossus than losing Giant.....it's a no-lose proposition.

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

I have to say that I found my experience with an RMC coaster to be the exact opposite of what you described about Twisted Colossus. I went on Wicked Cyclone at the beginning of October and I thought it was one of the best coasters I have ever experienced, better by far than almost anything else I've ridden. I did notice it was noisy like you described TC to be, but I mean every single B&M is noisy too, so I have no problem with that. All in all it was extremely smooth and enjoyable and definitely one that made me want to ride every other coaster RMC has built.

Hoooowhat!!?!?!?!? I thought Twisted Colossus was the best coaster at Magic Mountain? Oh wait, are you just jiving Mr Knotts?

Haha...you caught my sarcasm by the end.

Colossus is awesome.

And thus, everyone everywhere has forgotten it, making it The Forgotten RMC.

Yeah, when it comes to RMC, seems like Lightning Rod and Wildfire are the most talked about. But, those are also ground-up builds, whereas Storm Chaser is a re-build.

I haven't experienced any of their re-builds yet. The only RMC I have been on is Outlaw Run, which is fantastic!

I think he started off talking about Twisted Colossus and switched over to X2 so fast we didn't even catch it!

We only got 1 ride on TC, but it was lots of fun. However, the agonizingly slow 2nd lift, intentionally slowed to allow the other train to catch up, which it never did, is certainly a wet blanket. And while still insane, a non-racing run is slightly less fun.

I for one would absolutely love to get on Storm Chaser.
