A blue and teal Scorpion :) The logo is cute, though. I scratched my head when Busch Gardens Tampa painted their Scorpion supports blue (a good deal on paint from the Shakira project?), but o well. It works. (Trying really hard not to mention Laser, and failing. I guess it was far too expensive...?)
Can't believe it took this long for someone to make the connection between the boomerang layout and a scorpion. Seems obvious in hindsight.
Great idea for a unique theme on a less than unique ride.
^It does work very well. If I remember correctly (IIRC!?), there is a 'Scorpion' coaster in Rollercoaster Tycoon, that is some sort of a boomerang.
Geez, California's Great America is being stripped big time. So how many more seasons do you think this park will stay open?
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.
The park probably won't go anywhere as long as have to continue paying on their lease. Though, I must admit, I'm not familiar with the terms of the lease.
See, I would've named it "Laser". And then I would've made it a Schwarzkopf double looper. I even know exactly the spot I'd stick it.

Hey...Hips Don't Lie.
The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
What exactly is the reason this coaster was removed from Great America? This park has been completely ignored sine Cedar Fair took over, and now they are removing rides???? I would think this part of the country would have high attendance with new major rides, or is there really a possibility the NFL is going to acquire the park for the 49ers stadium project?
According to Dick Kinzel at his CoasterMania keynote speech, ever since they started fighting the city on having the stadium in the parking lot, the city has been very uncooperative in the permitting process. The GCI Woodie that CGA was supposed to get was already contracted with GCI. To fulfill the contract, they ended up building Prowler at Worlds of Fun.
As Jeff has mentioned many times before, Cedar Fair likely wants to get rid of the park. The problem likely lies in their lease agreement. (I don't know what it is) Though, I wouldn't be surprised if the city gets a percentage of the gate. If the park keeps removing rides, the attendance will likely fall and the city gets less and less money as the years go on.
I know that seems like cutting of your nose to spite your face. But, perhaps it's the only thing Cedar Fair can think of to get the city to the bargaining table.
