Steel Venom track arrives at Valleyfair

Posted | Contributed by Nessy: Ride of Steel

Track for Steel Venom at Valleyfair has arrived. Only 2 pieces of track are on-site, but many of the supports for the ride are there, including the launch track supports, as well as some supports for one of the spikes.

Yellow? Cedar Fair really went Six Flags lol. I wish we'd get an impulse in Europe :(

I am still leery as to whether or not I'd ride it... their rendition doesn't quite look safe (look at the back spike and you'll get the picture, even though it won't happen for real).

The artist's rendition is exactly that - a rendition. They edited a photo of Wicked Twister so the back spike would be straight.

It's your standard issue Intamin Impulse, I'm afraid to say.

First of all...the picture is completely fake, as you can tell from looking at the Cedar Point power tower (4 towers) and the water tower (says Cedar Point on it) in the background. Also, Wicked Twister, a double-twisting impulse at Cedar Point has 450 degrees of twist, where Steel Venom is a regular impulse with only 360 degrees of twist. Also, on the top of both spikes - there are spring loaded thingies that would make it so its impossible to fly off either end. These types of rides seem unsafe because of the incomplete circuit, but they are made by a very professional company that excels in safety.

P.S. I have a REAL picture of Steel Venom's progress (as of Feb. 8) at http://www.itsjustabuck.com/Andy/Dsc00010%20-2.jpg. I will try and continue taking pictures at least once a week.*** This post was edited by GraffMan 2/10/2003 2:15:30 PM ***

ailright.... first of i have to say its about time that us people at valleyfair got a new coaster, second before i get into the reason why it sucks that SV is the new coaster i want to say that some of yall forgot that VF is very small and is next to a marsh so its very hard to xpand on the park because its hard to find solid ground.

with that said SV i kno wasnt the choice of many people that go toVF for a new rollercoaster it goes up and down up and down not to forget the twist at one end, What i think they sould have done @ VF is dismanteled the Excalibur, yes it would be a disapointment to some people that acctually like the ride but doing that would open up a great amount of room for somthing worth the wild. Granted its too late and it will be another decade (so it will feel like) before VF will get a new coaster if they took it out then there would be room for a B&M or whatever type of "actuall" coaster in its spot

Non the less everyone knows that SV will live up to what its going to be just because people have been waiting forever to get a inverted coast @ VF. It makes ya think, for those who dont leave the state of MN you wonder if they even kno what an inverted coaster is hehehe! This year will be my first year working @ VF and i hope to have more info for all the people that wanna hear or E-mail me @ killadoggwon@yahoo.com
