Steel Venom constuction pictures posted to CoasterGallery.com

Despite the snow and sub-zero temperatures, construction continues on Valleyfair's latest roller coaster. Steel Venom, an Intamin impulse coaster with two 185-foot tall towers, is on schedule to open this May.

Joel Rogers recently took some pictures of the park's seventh coaster. They are not just pictures taken from a distance, these are "up close and personal" shots, with the park's permission, of course!

Wow, look at how "beefy" the non-track rails are on twist sections. I don't think any of the other impulses are built that way.

IMO it looks like the rails are about the same diameter. I think it's just the bolt flanges that are huge.

Actually EchoVictor, if you look at this pic http://www.coastergallery.com/2000/V3.html Jeff seems to be right.

I HEART OHIO

Not to rain on anyones parade, but I saw pics recently that show both towers already up.

Not to rain on your parade, but I clearly stated that the track was recently completed. I know everyone thinks CoasterGallery is only about pretty pictures, but if you read the text, you might learn something. For example....

Besides, many websites have pictures of completed coasters. But how many have close-up construction pictures?

Didn't I say that in the text? I guess no one reads what I write.

So no one will probably read this post either!

There's no need to be so angry you guys. Coaster Gallery is one of my favorite sites but you guys are snippy!

It was just a comment. Take it as input. Intamin Fan was rude with the way he said it but I think the point was the pics are a little behind. Take that as free input and consider that your visitors might want to see more timely updates. Berating people who go to your website is a bad idea.

You mention that Coaster Gallery is more than pretty pictures but why do you really think people go to your website? It's called Coaster Gallery for goodness sake! I think they're there for pictures. I've looked at your photos time and time again but I rarely read the info...

And pretty pictures is a saying subject to opinion. Some of them aren't so pretty. Some are very washed out looking. Also you ask how many sites have close up construction pictures? I've seen close up construction pictures on many many many websites. It's not that special.

It's just one guy's comment. I think you need to be more thick skinned. Not everyone will like everything you do.

I enjoy your website but was taken by your attitude toward others. Maybe future pictures will be received better? Let it go and move on.

Barry,

I think I am pretty thick skinned. My problem is that I should not post here after midnight when I am tired an grumpy. And my sarcasm in my second post was not as obvious as it should have been. (Was it really 1:30 AM when I made that second response? Man, I need to get some sleep!) ;)

You are correct.... CoasterGallery.com is mainly about pictures. I like to think that my site is more than just pictures, but I guess I should not give myself too much credit.

As far as timely updates.... I am just one person. The Gallery is just a hobby, not my job. I have a lot more important things in my life besides running a stupid little website. I am proud that I run my site by myself, and I am extremely happy that you won't find any annoying pop-up adds or 10,000th visitor crap on my website. But after I spend a lot of time and money running the site, and all I get is negative feedback, I sometimes question why I even bother at all.

I never claimed to have the latest news or pictures. There are so many quality coaster news websites and I just can't compete. Besides, as I write this, the pictures are only six weeks old. I don't think that they are too obsolete!

Of course, if you want to buy a plane ticket for me so I can visit the park again, I would be thrilled to go back. (What is the emoticon for sarcasm? I guess I will have to stick with.... :)

Was I really upset by posts here? No way!!! But you should read the lousy emails I get every day. For a free website, people sure do like to complain about it to me. If I get one more note asking about my Magic Mountain pictures, I think I am going to go insane. Like I said before, I often think I should just quit and invest my time and efforts into something more worth while.

I tell you what Barry, I will take your advice. And I will count to 10 before responding to any more posts. And I won't reply to anyone after midnight.

And I am glad that you have visited my website. :-)

(Keep your eyes open for the Adventureland pictures next week!)

Not a flaming war..... just my stupid little opinion. And my last post on the subject. (Insert cheering noise here)
