Steel Pier will remain open for one more year

Many people were devastated when it was announced that the Steel Pier amusement park would close for good after last summer's season. Donald Trump still plans to redevelop the Pier, but not before the gates reopen for at least one more summer.

Sold, American.

I'll be there on the shore in July for a family reunion...so I'm taking a week to "mop up" all remaining credits in Jersey...

I'm guessing the major factor here is construction delays, and there wasn't anyone willing to take the Crazy Mouse off Trump's hands. Still, maybe a park can pick it up next year, you know, and make a plan for it.
This is great news! I have been visiting the New Jersey Shore since 1964. There have been many changes in rollercoasters over the years, but it's nice to see the Steel Pier survive. Maybe this will give Trump time to reconsider.

Rollergator, let me know when you will be in New Jersey and I will try to meet you there!

I'm wondering if 2006 was a good year financially for the park, and he wants to give it another year to see if it's sustainable, or if it was just caused by people making the trip for one last visit.

Either way, I'm glad to hear this, and will definitely be making at least one visit this summer

Sounds like a good reason to hop on a casino bus this year. :)

I'll bet attendance will be through the roof this year.

If thats not motivation to go, I don't know what is!

Great news. But odd...

I saw a whole bunch of Steel Pier rides listed for sale on a site and the Crazy Mouse was listed as sold. And seeing those rides listed for sale was a downer because I was under the impression that the Steel Pier owners were looking to move the rides to another location and reopen them as a new park. I'm guessing that is no longer in their future plans.

^ MAYBE the Crazy Mouse was sold for future delivery? Perhaps someone wanting to open a park in '08? Just thinking out loud...;)
I thought that... maybe that is the case?

^ I would say "great minds think alike"....but, well..... ;)
The Crazy Mouse isn't listed as sold on http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=886

RCDB lists the Crazy Mouse as open and the kiddie coaster as closed, but the kiddie coaster isn't listed as sold here http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=891

On the Steel Pier's own web site they still list all their rides. By the way, if anyone definitely plans to go, there's a buy one / get one free ticket sale on the web. The prices are ridiculous otherwise.

^^ I was under the impression I had a WARPED mind. ;)
The Crazy Mouse is still listed as for sale in the Amusement Today I recieved today. Only one of the rides from Steel Pier is listed as sold.
