Steel Phantom only Hyper-Looper?

Ahoy there!

I was just looking at pix of the Steel phantom (before they tore it down), and was thinking "wow! that's the only coaster I've ever seen that is kind of a hypercoaster but with loops and stuff." Are there anymore hybrids like this?

How much did it cost ? And would'nt be cool if on that biggest drop, instead of diving around that cliff it droped in to a tunnel underground. That would be cool !!!

Someone mentioned manhatten express the other day.

Well, there will always be debate on whther Manhattan Express is really a hypercoaster or not.  Please, let's not get into that.  Son of Beast is a hyper-looper, there is no denying that!

Yes when I was at the NY NY casino in Vegas they did indeed call The Manhattan Express a hyper coaster. Its chain lift is over 200 ft, but the first drop is only a hundred and something feet. I don't consider it a hyper coaster, but I guess if you want to look at it that way It could be considered that. I have heard alot of people say they didn't like it, but I thought it was a decent coaster. Far from the best, but far from the worst too. I'd considered the Steel Phantom(RIP) the only true Hyper looper that I know of. The bad part is I never got to ride it. I wished I had skipped CP back in 96 instead of Kennywood. I wanted to ride the Mantis pretty bad. I love arrow coasters. Even the rough ones. They aren't that bad in the front. Maybe someone else does know of another hyper looper.

There's another looping hypercoaster being built: Odyssey (233 feet tall, 260 feet drop)

I think that the Stell Phantom cost Kennywood about 4 million???  I read my local newspaper several months ago and they said that for KW to redo the Phantom for the Revenge, it was about 7 million.  I love Phantom's Revenge.:)

Son of Beast is a hyper looper, standing 218 feet tall with a 214 foot drop.

Of note, consider that SP had a 10+ year run as the only looping coaster with a 200+' drop!  There may be more NOW, but it was certainly a leap forward of drastic proportions in its day...even if it was a little rough!
