Steel Comet wins CS Gold Medal!

I'm just kind of excited.  My newest creation, Steel Comet, just won the weekly gold medal over at Coastersims.com, out of 122 submitted No Limits coasters for the week.  :)  It makes me happy, since I spent about 3 times the amount of time on that coaster as on any of my previous coasters.

I really gotta say, at first I was a little skeptical thinking it'd be just some cheesy coaster...

But actually riding it, I must say that it took a lot of effort for that coaster. Sure, it's just a tad large and unrealistic from the point of view in reality, but I guess that just keeps us dreaming.

I guess the most impressive part of your coaster is the structure layout. I love the faux tunnels created by supports. I always have such a hard time getting those floating "free" nodes be placed exactly where I want it to sit. Impressive, to say the least.

The actual layout is very good too. I never saw a decent coaster take nearly the entire space No Limits has to offer (I guess No Limits really does have "limits") With the amount of trees mixed the curvy hills... it makes it very unpredictable. Too bad this is too much of a fantasy than reality (sheer size & height makes this run into nearly 70 million project!).

...Wondering what the 2002 season holds for all parks...

Glad you like it.  I wouldn't call it a fantasy.  It's only 1400 feet longer than Steel Dragon, and only 40 feet taller than the new coaster at Heide Park.  Sure, very few parks could fit or afford a coaster that size, but nothing about it is really unrealistic.  The only thing is the pullout on the bottom of the first hill pulls a little higher Gs than I'd like, but I ran out of room to extend the pullout.  That's why I wish No Limits had a much larger working space.  Maybe in an update.  :)

Man, I wish I could build a coaster like that. I usually have trouble building complex support structures like that. Congrats on the win.
Steel Comet rocks! I like how it goes in the 'support tunnel'! :) That would be an unique feature that new coasters could have, but I bet it could be a lot of money in steel. ;)

Nice coaster! Very smooth, fast, and filled with airtime! :)

Were there any restrictions or is it just a free for all?

NoLimits Tournament of Champions now underway at Ride_Op Coaster Productions! http://rideop.twistedrails.com

It's given automatically to the highest rated coaster submitted for the week.  Everyone rates the coasters, with secured logins, as to prevent sock puppets.  For that week, the votes I received averaged 9.44, and #2 was very close behind, at 9.36.  The second place guy has since passed me in the all time rankings, by about 0.1 points, but the weekly rating is what counts for the medals.  So no, there are no restrictions whatsoever.
