Relive the wonderful State Fair of Texas Comet. This old Carl Phare/NAD coaster ran from 1947-1985 and was torn down in 1989. Many thanks go uot to Ricky Summersett who shot this footage in the very early 1980's.

Wow... what a cool old ride. I don't know if it's the fact that it was shot on film or what, but this video has a great feel to it.

(Be sure to scroll down on that video page to the Comet, I accidentally downloaded Comet II the first time. ;))

What a sweet video. Hey, those are NAD trains, right? Too bad it was torn down. How did it not make ACE coaster classic status?

NAD Century Flyers. I'm not sure when the ACE Classics started, but the coaster went silent in 1985 and was torn down in 1989.

It was shot on 8mm according to the author, I think it held up pretty well for over 20 years.

It's a shame that he couldn't find someone to do a better transfer. It could be converted flicker-free with the right gear (by the right people).

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone/B:TDK

I never knew the Carl Phare had a part in this coaster.I thought that he only built coasters in the Pacific Northwest.I wonder if it rode anything like the Vancouver PNE Coaster, the only surviving(for now)Carl Phare coaster.

I enjoy the flicker, so did my dad.

3 out of the 4 voices in my head say, go for it!

The video would have lost its' charm without the fliker. One things I like about that video is that it looks like it could have been made in the '50's.

I still want to see a PAX Cobra somewhere....the layout looked awesome to me, serious airtime on a shuttle looping coaster!
yeah...this video would've sucked without the flicker.

Seems to be downloading fine for everyone else. You may try to download the .zip file to your harddrive, but everything is working.
