I had a great time last year, and I can't wait for this year's event.

My wife and I went to SRM for the first time last year, and we had a blast. You get about 7 hours of ERT on Legend and Raven, and most of it is in the dark. And when I say dark, I mean dark. Holiday World actually turns out most of the lights in the park, so it is even darker than usual. You haven't experienced a night ride until you've ridden the Legend in total blackness.

Of course, that isn't all of it. There's free pizza and fudge, unlimited soft drinks, admission to the park on Saturday, and a behind the scenes photo tour of Raven and Legend.

And you'll be treated to what is probably the friendliest staff you'll ever encounter at an event. The Koch family and their employees really goes out of their way to make us coaster nuts feel welcome. This is one event that every coaster enthusiast should try and get to at least once. :)

Jeff, so you are going now. What happened to your plans in Columbus that weekend?

I attended my first SRM last year, in 2000. It was without a doubt the best event I have ever attended. I cannot think of anything I'd rather do on May 11 than go to SRM, it's THAT good. There are so many coaster people there, so much fun times, so many memories, so many NIGHT rides on Legend :::drool:::, free pop, great pizza, excellent fudge, cool people, cool staff, and oh yeah, cool people. Hanging out with so many enthusiasts is a blast. You meet a lot of new friends at this event. And riding The Legend at night that many times is something I wouldn't give up for anything.

I guess what I'm trying to say is spend the $19.99 (if you're an ACEr) and get yourself to SRM on May 11 and 12. It will definitely be an event you will never forget.

(And generally speaking, I don't much care for small traditional parks! That should tell you something...)

Actually, it's open to members of any club.

Yeah Scott, I'll be there for the Friday ERT. My kids' tournament starts in Columbus Saturday morning, so Steph will drive while I sleep late Friday night!

I'll be there too for my first time, I can't wait!! I'm leaving school at noon, which is a plus, and I'm heading over to holiday world that afternoon. I'm glad I'm only 1 1/2 hours from there.

I said back in September that it would only be up for a limited time, but I haven't taken it down yet...
Go to http://capital2.capital.edu/admin-staff/dalthoff/adventures and have a look at that QuickTime movie from 2000's Stark Raven Mad. I haven't taken it down yet.

Hey RideMan, I noticed in your video of a ride at HW by the name Banshee. I guess the controversy of that name didnt make it to Indiana.

LOL Chitown! Maybe it's because the Banshee basically sucks and no one cares about it...I know I don't at least, I ignore every time I'm there.

Holiday World's Banshee (Chance Falling Star) is in the Halloween section of the park, and in their case, the theme actually fits the park. Actually, I think that ride has been there since before Cedar Point announced their stand-up coaster.

(So, Chitown, did you like the video? :) )

I'll be there this year and it'll be my first time going. Hey, Scott, you have to show me where the best place to sit is on both coasters. I can't wait to go.

Is it May 11th yet? :)

Can you take me higher? (CREED)
I actually made the trip down to holiday world last summer, and i don't think there is a right or wrong place to sit on either ride, its great everywhere. I might actually have a problem getting there, as i have my last final that morning.......then i'll have to drive from champaign illinois to santa claus with everything from my dorm in my car with me. The things i go through for coasters.....still i can't think of a better way to end the semester.
RideMan says:

(So, Chitown, did you like the video?)

Yes, I liked it. I have never been there and am itching to do so.
Do you have to be a member of a coaster club to be at this event?

My wife just kinda tolerrated my fascination with coasters until we went to the Fall Freak Out 2000 at Holiday World last September and now she is slowly starting to become a coaster connoisseur:)
This will be our first SRM and I am very much looking forward to May. Got the Ace Spring Conference the first weekend then SRM the next weekend and Adventureland in Iowa the last weekend:)

SRM is only 412 miles and 1.75 months away
hey folks, has anyone planned on going to SFKK on the 12th? ACE is holding an event there as well that weekend, SFKK Invasion. Nothing REALLY big, but it includes dinner and ERT on Thunder Run. Plus since there will be quite a few ACErs at SRM, might as well skip over to louisville and get some more riding in....

Steel aint better, WOOD FOREVER!!!

I am going SFKK on the 12th, got my season pass from SFKK in the mail last week and I will process it then. Trying to talk the wife into go to the ACE SFKK Invasion event but she really does not like SF parks and is not too keen on the idea so not sure if I will stay for the event or just hit the coasters that afternoon/early evening then leave.
