Stark Raven Mad '03 flyer now available

Former Holiday World employee (and "Simpsons" fan) Dave Johnson has once again created a dry and corporate-styled flyer for Stark Raven Mad pre-registration.

Bob,

The Holiday World woodies are hella good at 10 am in the morning...but when night falls over the woods in late May, the two take on an almost surreal power. The utter darkness you are flying through, combined with the maintenance techniques of Maestro Jeff H., create a magical space where every other sensation falls away except for speed and gravity. Add in the special aura of hundreds of enthusiasts having a nearly religious experiece, and it's kind of a genuine spiritual event. There's little else like it that I've experienced in this life. "Insane Mode" comes close to describing it.

'Moosh, remember the thread about "where do the monkeys go"? Well, I'm not sure where they GO, but when the monkeys COME flying out of my butt, THEN you'll get my Legend shirt.....until then, you'll have to "make do" with being the first registrant....well, first other than the Drabeks...;)
Also. I am sending in my registration tomorrow. Do you include the money with it or do you pay it at the park?
Can't wait to add to my 140 Legend flights! And I know of a couple buzzers that will be joining me for their first SRM experience......in the dark! I love how the flyer is made available now, to help counter the overwhelming offseason blues that have everyone in a slump. :)

SFGAdvMAN - include your check with registration [doesn't it say that on the form?].

Coaster & Amusement Park Christmas cards, clothing, gifts, and stocking suffers, now available here.

If they stick to the tried and true SRM formula, while you get into both ERT sessions for your registration fee, you only get one full day at the park.

Last year each person got a strip of tickets that included a Friday ERT ticket, Friday meal ticket, Saturday ERT ticket, Saturday meal ticket, and one general admission ticket good on your choice of Friday or Saturday. (Did we mention the 50% ticket discount for coaster club members if you wish to purchase additional days or even season passes) (Minor Suggestion, can we have the ticket strips printed in the order they are going to be used, last year the Friday ERT ticket was in the center of the ticket strip.

"Insane Mode" - You just have to go and see. Trust them when they say they maintain the coasters in top form. I had the pleasure to ride in the same car as Jeff Hammersly once, he is more enthusiastic about how he likes his Raven rides than most enthusiasts. Which is a good thing for us.

Satan's Lodge - You say it was too hot? Just make the mistake we made when we stayed there! We arrived at Satan's Lodge at about 5pm one SRM Friday, got checked in, ran upstairs and dumped our baggage off in the room. Noted room was hot, turned the A/C unit onto max. Left to go to SRM. 12:15 that same night (oh, it pays to be staying almost right across the street from the park) we re-enter the room to find that Satan's Lodge had been converted into Santa's Lodge, as in that room was colder than the North Pole. I think we actually cranked the HEATER up. Yi-hi-hi-hi-hi.

Yes, we're sticking with the formula: SRM starts when the park closes on Friday, and includes all-day admission on Saturday.

Thanks, Paula

Dave, that was FUNNY stuff there.....agreed about the order of the tickets. You KNOW it's a great park (amzing, wonderful, unbelievable park) when the biggest *complaint* is the order of the tickets....rofl.

Insane Mode, ya gotta experience it yourself....can NOT be described in words, only in screams of joy....

Dave, We went through the exact same thing at Santa's lodge last SRM.. Checked into the hot room, turned on the A/C, went to SRM, came back and turned the thing off for the rest of the night.

Oh, its SOOOO nice having a bed several hundred yards from the park instead of driving miles afterwards. I highly recommend Santa's Lodge. Its a nice little motel. The pizza place next to it isnt bad either :)

Does someone know where I can download the 2002 flyer?

I've stayed at Satan's Lodge for the last 2 years and love it. The only disappointment was their awful breakfast buffet, but where else are you gonna eat?

Paula - so many people must walk from the hotel to the park, yet the only way I've seen to get to the front gate is to walk thru the parking lot entrance. Any chance of opening up a walkway from the street?

Ok, time to get my reservation form over to Paula to see if I can get into the Top 10 for SRM 2003.

Already have 2 rooms booked for Satan's Lodge for about a month plus - when I told them the nights, the first thing they said, "Your a Coaster Enthusiast huh." Even made it through the call without referring to it as Satan's Lodge (which is just short of miraculous for me).

Have Fun!

Made our reservations at Santa's Lodge as soon as I got the official dates. Only problem is the hubby made them, got us a king sized bed, and now my son is talking about coming along. Hope they have rollaway beds.

SFgadvMAN,
Not sure if its on-line anywhere, but I still have a copy of it on my PC. If you want it, drop me an e-mail and I'll send it on to you.

CPLady - Santa's Lodge has two suites, each with a second bed and whirlpool. Unfortunately someone booked both those rooms again this year ;-)

Moosh - looking forward to the whirlpool again after all that ERT.

So now I know who to blame! Actually, if I recall, they were double beds, and the hubby and I don't sleep comfortably together in a double.

There is still a chance my son may bow out of the trip, but considering his birthday is May 30, we aren't about to discourage him. What better way to celebrate a birthday than power riding two world class coasters!

No better! My gang of "mooshies" threw me a surprise b-day party in one of the hotel rooms last year at SRM!

I just heard that Santa's Lodge is adding 34 more rooms for '03.

Also, someone is planning to build a bunch of "chalets" in the area adjacent to Santa's Lodge in time for the '03 season.

And at Lake Rudolph, they've got a bunch of rental RVs and cabins.

Little by little, this town is growing!

Thanks, Paula

Since he frequently plays "Dr. Phil's Words of Wisdom" on his show, why not invite David Letterman to join?

On one show, he was naming highways named after people such as Bill Koch (I-64), mentioning him as "the founder of Holiday World and Splashin' Safari." He did that because he wants Mayor Bart Peterson to have the circle freeway around Indy, I-465, named after him.
