I know that this probably isn't news to a lot of people, but I think it's important because this might be the first droid to appear at a Disney park since the garbage can was retired from Tomorrowland, and also because this is a pretty complex one to make work. I'm anxious to see how it goes.

The mechanics that make BB-8 go are actually so simple it's brilliant, assuming my son's radio control toy is a good example of how it works.
Someone here in Rochester has a full function, life size, radio control R2-D2. If BB-8 draws half the crowd R2-D2 does, it will be a hit!
But then again, what do I know?
I have the Sphero bot, and it's very cool. If they can scale that up, it's a solved problem!
