Stand up Freefall

SFOG is getting a stand up gyro drop ride. That sounds interesting, but don't you think that it will hurt? Especially if you are male.
Why would that hurt? I'm sure the vehicle(s) will have the same sort of configuration as any stand-up roller coaster.

The reason it would hurt I think is that the ride would be dropping and come to a sudden stop, knowing those Gyro Drop rides. I'm guessing it would have the same restraints as a standup and as you stop near the bottom, the seatbelt strap would have to go SOMEWHERE...

APForce...

She said she's going to LA but she never got there, never got there, never got there... =) Anyway, I don't think the seatbelt strap would get in the way, I would be more worried about the seat itself. Well, considering there is an operating stand-up freefall, I'm sure this is not a problem at all.

Does anyone have a link to pictures of Apocalypse at Drayton Manor?? (the one existing Intamin stand-up freefall)

There's another stand-up freefall!?!? Isn't Six Flags claming this is to be the first stand-up freefall tower in the world? Maybe all the rumors just got stretched out of whack. Anyway, Go Georgia Go!!!

Drayton Manor's Apocalypse is an Intamin Giant Drop, with two of the five vehicles featuring stand-up cars. The one for SFOG will be an Intamin Gyro Drop, like Drop Zone at PKI. I assume the whole ring will feature the stand-up seats, but I haven't heard for sure.
A few pics on the official site. http://www.draytonmanor.co.uk/exp_index.htm

hey whered ya hear about this (SFOG ride)? Is it confirmed/rumor?

First stand-up GYRO drop. There's a big difference. As in imagine PKI's Drop Zone Standing up. Intense!!! :)

Six Flags ALWAYS seems to find a way to promote their rides as being the "first", "longest", "greatest", etc.. What's next? Coaster with the most nails?

...But that's just my opinion. Unless it's also someone else's. *** This post was edited by Brett on 1/19/2001. ***
If I remember correctly, on one of the America's Greatest Roller Coasters videos they had something about how many nails it took to put the Texas Giant together. Coincidently, Texas Giant is at at Six Flags park, SFOT.

Its not just Six Flags. Paramount, Universal, Disney, Cedar Fair, and all the rest are guilty of this as well. Its just marketing... don't let it bother you, just be happy they build more quality rides.
