S&S Power & Six Flags

I have a question. Why is it that just about every park from small to medium to large parks have a turbo shot or a combo but SFDL doesn't have one?

Doesn't seem a little weird that we can't even get a drop tower in out park much less anything else we don't even have a wild mouse!

I don't want to sound whiny or like a baby but come on we don't have the basic rides that even a smaller park like Playland has a drop tower. What's up with that?

Your Park only has 1 good coaster! That's too bad!
Well I've noticed something between CF & SF.

It seems that as soon as CF builds a type of ride in their park (ie impulse coaster/S&S tower etc) that SF no longer builds the same type of ride in it's parks.

A case in point is after WT was added at CP,once that happened SF never added another v2 clone in any of their parks,I often wonder what the reason for that is.

Couple things:
  • Great Adventure is a pretty big SF park and it doesnt have a sizable drop ride either...so its nothing against Darien Lake
  • Batwing Fan, I dont get your theory. SFOT received a nice SS tower this year.
  • Rentzy, that Topspin in not entirely recent. It was there since 2000. I think the Shoot the Chutes was their most recent (or some sort of water ride).

Fate is the path of least resistance.

Don't forget about SFA, it doesn't have a "sizeable" drop tower. Tower of Doom sometimes barely even drops.
Darienlakefan...

I will trade you every coaster from SFoG to you with the exception of Mindbender and Georgia Cyclone for your S:RoS.

You may feel you don't have much, but you have RoS which is actually a LOT.

I dunno, check with Gator... I bet he'd give you every coaster at IoA for RoS. There's people willing to trade out there.

In other words, be happy with what you have. You could be Astroworld.

I don't know, but last time I checked SFMM didn't have a tower, either.

OHHH THE Humanity! Not Astroworld.

Should there be a "tower depraved" Enthusiast group started here?

Off topic---Nasai's sig states:

Oh good, another has acknowledged the lyrical genius of 50cent :)

Brian, I don't need to give up more than Hulk alone for SFDL's RoS...Hulk is the #1 steelie out there according to Discovery Channel, so I figure I should be able to get any coaster out there in trade, and perhaps a flat, too....SFDL got any good flats I could use? I hear there a Top Spin there, I like those...:)

BGT has no shot/drop ride, and I've been asking for one for a LONG time...Paula told us when HW got theirs that there was another of the used M-80s (my name for the short S&S shot towers) for sale...;). They produce a lot of air at the top, moreso IMO than the taller towers...IB and WA have 'em, and they're great.

S&S is in good shape with SFI, and I think Timberhawk has been well-received at SFEV, so I wouldn't be AT ALL surprised to see another S&S woodie coming soon to a park near you (offer valid in NJ only).

As for the Arrow portion of S&S, can't we get some more of those fantastic mine rides? :)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Like Magnum XL-200? The 200 foot mine train?

*Stolen directly from an old friend*

TOD is a complete waste of time what with DZ some 90 minutes away at PKD.

If SFDL wants a drop tower then perhaps SFA would be willing to make a trade...let's say for that topspin that they took from us in 2000.

Rentzy17-I do think it is a bit of a coincidence because that usually does happen although SFOT's S:TOP did totally slip my mind for some reason.

I suppose once Dorney's floorless goes in for 05 then we won't see anymore added in the SF chain either...let's hope CF doesn't decide on adding a B&M flyer to any parks anytime soon.

Why are other parks always "stealing" rides from SFA??? It needs to stop if SFA is going to stay the best park in the chain, damn it!!!

Sadly, Antuan, as much as I can express the desire to like said rap artist, I wasn't referring to the artist personally, or quoting him.

In the "old" days (;)), when someone used a difficult word, it was referred to as a 50 cent word, being that it cost a lot of vowels, consonants, etc. Lame, I realize, but that is what it meant. So.... I was just being a masturbatory (another 50 cent word, I might add) geek, and giving my fave word "of the week."

Sorry, there isn't more to be read into it. Just be glad you aren't on my mailing list, as last weeks' doozy was the ever-powerful Phenolphthalein ... it drives all the geeks mad with that 5 consonant middle section. God, I love that word. ;)

hehehe, I kinda figured. I was only joking about the 50cent being a lyrical genius too. He is good, but genius is a stretch. Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled program....

Yes, once again, BatwingFanSFA makes no sense. I mean, he can't even find the spacebar that was provided to him on his computer keyboard. What in the hell are you talking about? What does Cedar Fair have to do with what Six Flags adds?

Tower of Doom was added in 1996, a full seven years before Paramount decided to add Drop Zone. Things are always going to be added at parks that out do other parks. It's the nature of the business. Did I skip Pittfall at Kennywood this year because it's shorter than Drop Zone? Of course not.

Before anyone cuts on Astroworld, they have a kick-ass Intamin drop tower called Demon Drop that's over 200ft. tall (220ft., I believe), and its got themeing in the queue. *** Edited 11/21/2003 4:30:33 AM UTC by Intamin Fan*** *** Edited 11/21/2003 4:31:36 AM UTC by Intamin Fan***

Every Cedar Fair park with the exception of MiA (which is supposedly getting one in '05) has one. WOF's was first though, and IMHO has the most "balls" of the space shots, even though it is smaller.

Love that "pop" of airtime at the top - you just don't get that on the second generations.

Please explain to me why you continually compare Tower Of Doom to Drop Zone? I just don't see the logic!
