S&S getting new compitition from Huss ?

Looks like Huss is giving S&S a run for their money. Their previous "Shot 'n Drop" and "Shot 'n Shot" launch / freefall towers have been small, more suitable for fairs and carnivals...until now.

They're now offering a "Maxi" version which is currently 65 meters high (about 200 ft, right ?).

Here's where they really one up S&S - check out the cool theming:

The first Maxi model will have the rocket theme...pretty cool.

(Don't get me wrong, S&S rocks, but I wonder how they compare on cost, and if S&S would / could offer theming this cool).

Anyone ever ridden the small Huss drop rides ?

Those three themes they have on their website rock! I'd love to see any one of them in reality!
I've never seen any of Huss' suggested themes used on rides. I wish they would because they kick ass.

DCA has a themed S&S Shot...it looks like a "test of strength" game.

2002 - the year of IB's LoCoSuMo!!

did anyone else notice the numbers on the rocket in the thrid link? that's a little odd for a company that deals with family parks, don't you think?

I actually didn't even notice it - and the funny thing is usually people accuse _ME_ of having a dirty mind...

Come on Mamoosh, does that really pass as themed? ;)

Honestly, they put a little mural on the top (and not even on every side) and put a light up "bell" and call it themed. Come on Disney!

But those Huss rides look great. I'm not sure if they will compete with the very well proven and well established S&S in this category, but the themes on those Huss rides looks great!!

0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

S&S better get their act together, the bad publicity of late is probably detrimental for their business.Think about it, most parks can deal with having malfunctions on prototype rides but actually having to dismatle the ride(Vertigo situation) reflects poorly on a company. Two of S&S brightest products are having technical difficulties to the point of closure, its going to be tough to sell these products with the abhorrent results in the last year.

It could be a perfect time for other companies to capitalize on S&S failures. I hope ,though, that Stan can get it together. If anyone can do it, its Stan. You can do IT!!!

That and the Hypersonic isnt open :-(
Huss already got a park installation of their "Shot n'Drop". Its at Bellewaerde, a zoo/amusement park in Belgium, owned by SF. Reports says that its quite fun and got better capacity than a single tower S&S ride! (24 seats, opposed to 12 or 16)
I'm sure the technology has always been there for S&S to do theming, it's just that no park has wanted to spend the money on it.

Right, Zero-G. All the Huss themes are merely concept art at this point. Although the themes they do would be rather cool, I doubt any of them will ever get used.
