S:ROS at SFA. Box track at bottom of second hill?

Just wondering? Can anyone confirm if there is a section of box shaped track anywhere on Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags America? If so, where? The most common place I know about is at the beginning of the second hill. An enthusiast friend of mine (Intamin Fan), is sure that it exists, but I swear it doesn't.

This may be a stupid subject and might have already come up before, but I want to know for real.

P.S. Feel free to argue this one as much as you like : )

The lift hill, first drop, second hill, and third hill all have Triangle shaped track

No arguement needed... there is absolutely no Intamin "box" track on Superman: Ride of Steel. It's either the triangular track, or the flat track.

Or you could argue it the other way. Box track costs more than triangle track. The advantage is it has a much larger moment of intertia, which means it can span a greater distance without a support. So where putting supports is relatively cheap (read low to the ground,) it makes sense to use triangle or even flat track. Where supports are expensive (read far off the ground) it makes sense to use box track. So even if there were any box track, which there isn't, it certainly wouldn't be at the BOTTOM of the hill.
Didnt they come out with the box track in 2000?

Joey, no they didn't. Volcano the Blast Coaster has plenty of box track.

Until you get a parking space with your own name on it, you're still part of the GP.

Mindbender at SFOG has box track.

I-Fan, you sure about that? I remember a ton of triangle track, but not an inch of (four sided) box track.

And Joey, I think that they've had box track before 2000 (see Linear Gale).

Actually, there is not a single piece of the Intamin box track on Volcano. There is triangular pieces, but no box pieces.

2hostyl, I think he's right about the box track/2000 thing.  Linear Gale is completly made of triangular track.  It looked so odd when I saw (rode) it.  (And even more odd not having a twist!)  http://www.coastergallery.com/japan/K05.html

Rollergator, Mindbender was designed by Shwarzkopf but manfufactured by Intamin.
Well sonuvab!tch, Peabody! You learn something new every day....

I just examined Volcano on my America's Greatest Coaster Thrills on DVD and found not one piece of box track. Even in slow motion, it is all triangle except for the launch which looks like it might be flat track.

Buzzo, paraphrasing from 2hostyl, "well sonuva*****...learn something new EVERY day"....Schwarzkopf designs just seem to always contain those high-G forces I crave SO much....

Well leave it up to Go With Gravity to knock me down on two things (I'll get you back-I always do:) ). I seem to remember my initial thought of all three track types on S:ROS coming from a statement on Badnitrus. Oh well, it makes for a fun discussion. However, someone has it right, Shwartzkopf has had box track for sometime. Look at pictures of Shockwave at SFOT.

Yeah, I thought MF and SROS at New England were the first to use it.

I can't comment because I have never ridden a modern INTAMIN(it's sad, I know), but I wanted to post something in this topic anyways.

S:RoS at SFNE does not have a single piece of box track. Just triangle and flat for the brake run.
