S:ROS @ SFDL is losing its superman theme!

WHOAH! What a pleasant surprise when i went to SFDL for a job training session... i drive up to the park and the superman is ORANGE!!! I was told that the superman theme would be TOTALLY REMOVED before the start of the season because of the lawsuit that was recently settled. Although that doesn't make much sense to me, he said 100% sure the name and theme WOULD change. [I must admit that i'm definitly liking the orange color]... but why would they be getting rid of the logos and changing the station because of the lawsuit? regardless... it was SOOOO weird driving up and seeing the change.

I snapped a pic of it for you guys here:

strange stuff... but i don't mind the change. I'm sure it will turn a lot of heads!

Can we ever get through one April 1st without an April FOols day prank?

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Wow that sure seems strange, maybe they want to market it as a new coaster? Or something of that nature. I wonder what it will be called now? And do you know if the support color will change?

I've been a little out of the news, what was this lawsuit? On a side note, I like the orange just as much as the red. We need more orange coasters.

I liked my "All hail the new moderator - ME!" thread from last year better. People actually believed it--even MOJ folk and stalkerettes who shoulda remembered this thread.

EDIT: as for the support color, i do not know. My guess is there is no way they could paint the whole ride in time (they still need to work on the station), and to be quite frank with you, it looks great the way it is.

Hmmm, there seems to be a few green trees up there for this time of year. Wasn't aware they bloomed that early. The guy standing on the trains is wearing shorts and the female in the back appears to be in short sleeves. Plus on the upper right next to the ride controls there appears to be a couple of park patrons.

Just an observation. Cool photo though.

It's actually been in the 60's the past two weeks! Although the last two days it did go down in the 40's again :(

.... strange how fast trees grow ;)

Another dead give away is that if you look closely at the rails you can see the wheel marks where the friction of the trains has worn the paint off.

If they really did repaint it(which they no doubt didn't) then there's no way that the wheel marks would be made that fast after repainting...beside SFI or any other park isn't going to retheme a ride just because a patron sued them over an injury on it & won.

If they were that worried about it then they would've removed the ride from the park instead of retheming & painting it,well that's the best april fools day joke I've seen all day so far.

Last year was betterr because everyone was a bit more creative in their jokes...boy how things have changed here in the course of a year!:)

But how can you NOT like the new garbage can designs?

Actually, a lot of the track comes with the wheel tracks, for whatever reason (so it doesn't look crappy when it chips?).

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

But of course those tracks are always a white colour, and when they peel off they leave what we see - the dull steely-rusty colour.

Could always say it's been testing for a while?

Intamin track has the "wheel marks" as you put it a different color. Usually the top one is also used for a static discharge strap.

They had to repaint several pieces of Dragster track after the initial install, try and find them, you can't.

You think we'll get those trash cans at SFGadv this year? :)

ROb, are they that high up? :)
So that's what that little strap hanging off the back of the train is for?I always thought it was aa plate used by the blocking system to detect when the train has cleard the blocks.

If you look at the pic posted in the top of the thread you'll notice something that shows that it was edited.....on the control booth you'll see the red paneling on the side, after looking at pics of SFA's version that panel is normally orange & not red.

Someone just reversed the red track color with the orange control booth colors....if it really were repainted orange though I'd have to admit that it's the worst color scheme I've ever seen on a coaster in my life...second only to PKD's Shockwave, now that thing is hidious!

There's a lot of things that make it obvious that pic was edited. I think everyone realized that about 0.4 seconds after looking at it. Who are you trying to convince?
What I found most insulting about the joke was that the prankster wanted us to believe that SFInc would go through the expense of repainting an entire coaster to eliminate the presence of a theme.....but FAIL to remove the Superman Logo from the train. This is especially insulting knowing that the logo isnt actually painted on the train, but is rather a decal that an ambitious five year old could scrape off ;)

Nice try though!

Hey as long as i get one person my job is done ;P... and at first glance i think it's believable, but hey that's me. I've convinced a few others (outside of this board)... i mean it's obvious because of april 1st and all, but had it been a different day i'm sure many would think different at first glance...

I don't know what orange in the station you are talking about, i didn't touch anything except the track, and i made it my own color.

... as for the logo and such, that's why i said it was a work in progress ;)

I always do something stupid each year in regrads to SFDL and threw that together in a few minutes -- the park doesn't open for more than a month.

I think i'm starting to like the garbage cans...
