SRM questions/advice

"How much longer can I delay joining CoasterBuzz/Signing up/reserving a hotel, before I have to stay in the next county?"

My strong advice: even if you're not sure you can make it call and reserve a hotel room or camping spot NOW! You can always cancel later if you find you can't make the event but its good to have that in your back pocket. Just make sure you inquire about the cancellation policies.

FYI, I've stayed at the Baymont in Dale on three separate occasions and never had a problem. Santa's Lodge, while more expensive, is definitely more convenient. I have no experience with the Motel 6.

As for joining Coasterbuzz IIRC Jeff prints membership cards once a month, so I'd guess you should be registered by the end of March. E-mail Jeff to be sure.

There is a deadline for mail-in registration and you can find that and other details about SRM, as well as hotel info on Holiday World's website. You can register at the park the day of the event, but I'm pretty sure in order to get an SRM t-shirt you must register in advance. I'd suggest emailing the park for specific questions.

Loriu - even if you're not sure you can make it I suggest you make hotel reservations NOW!!! Santa's Lodge is almost sold out [in not already] and other hotels in the area will go VERY fast. The Baymont in Dale is highly recommended as well.

You'll love HW and SRM ;)

Moosh - wishes he was going this year

Not sure if actually meant this for me Moosh. I meant that we have never stayed at any hotels so I couldn't give any info. We made our reservations at Lake Rudolph over a month ago.

That's correct--SRM t-shirts are available through pre-registration only. We do order some extra shirts, but they get snapped up quickly early during on-site registration. Something new this year...we'll have a greater variety of sizes available, include children's.

We're checking on close-by hotel availability and will post the information shortly.

Thanks for all the kind words about SRM. We kinda like it, too. :) Paula

I have the form (which you can download for yourself from www.holidayworld.com/srm )and pre-reg ends on May 10th BUT if you want a T-shirt, you need to register by May 1st. Early registration saves you $5 over on-site registration ($31.95 vs. $36.95) and the t-shirt is $12.00

EDIT: D'oh Paula beat me to it by 30 seconds... ;)

Yet another question from the Great American: Can any felow Chi-Town residents offer an estimate on driving time? I'd be starting around where 294 and 80 meet... Speaking of roads, what's the best way to get there, anyway?

(SF)Gamerican,

I take I57 to I64 to US231 and follow the signs...Depending how close you stay to the speed limit, about 6 hours from where you say you live

Last summer we took 41 all the way down to 64. It took us about 5 hours to get to Holiday World starting from the northwest side of Chicago, including a stop for lunch and some other random stops.
You guys are definitely Illini if ya can make it that fast ;)

I will echo Chris's comments about Highway 41. I take that stright through Indiana, and it takes about 6 hours from the north-side of Chicago.

Warning: You might actually die of bordem on this drive, but there seems to be no quicker or more direct route.

The Holiday Inn in Jasper had a live band and some townie chicks to pickup, if you're interested. ;)

Otherwise, stay as close as you can. It makes life easier if you partake in water park activities or just need a nap, resting up for when you see God herself that night on the coasters.

Thanks for your help everyone. Chances are we will be able to go. We booked Baymont Inn for 79.95. I hope to see some people there:)

Hey Paula I was just wondering if you guys had any idea of the colors / images for the shirts?

Nope.

Actually, I'd emailed Dave about it yesterday (he worked here years ago and we still bribe him each year to do the flyer and t-shirt).
