SRM 2003 May 30-31

Associated parks:
None

I am only going to write down a few notes from the event. It was my first time to the park.

-The auction was fun and they were selling glowsticks and the SRM theme song. I like the one part "Cedar Point, I really wonder if they care. Their big woodie just won't give air. Not like the Legend and The Raven" LOL, how true;)

I got both. I bidded on a wheel for 50 and it sold for 55. It lasted about an hour.

-The ERT night #1 was amazing. I got about twenty rides. Legend is now my number two coaster. I also met a lot of people from these boards.

-Halloswings is an awesome ride. All weekend I got twelve rides I think. The theming for the ride is amazing. Zamperla did a great job. The cycle time is a little short though.

-The free soft drinks are great. I think I had a little bit to much though. It is great to not have to pay every time you are thirsty. All weekend I was getting one then drinking in line.

-The meals were also nice. The first night the pizza was great. Also the chips, fudge, and soda. That was when I saw Moosh. The breakfast Saturday morning was just drinks and muffins. I wasn't really expecting anything much there. The second night the line was just outrageous. They really need to make more than one line.

-The photo walk back was also cool. I only took me about twenty minutes but you got some great views. I took about fifteen pictures there.

-The water park ERT was nice in the morning...sorta. The rides were great but the weather and the time of day was a little off;) I got four rides on Zinga, three rides on Zoombabwe, and one each on Ottorongo. My Zinga rides were not that great because there were only two people or one in the raft but it was fun. I didn't experience any problems with Zoombabwe either, again not to much weight in the raft. Ottorongo was just short and that's it.

-The employees were friendly. They would just walk up to you and ask you how your day is going. Legend broke down twice while I was second to next in line but they kept the people entertained with games like Hangman on the chalkboard. The people at the event were also great. I saw Arrow Guy, cdrpointcrazy44, Robb Alvey, Blitzjade, John Peck, Jeff, Kara, and many others.

-I am not really going to comment on the Raven accident. Twenty minutes after we were supposed to be let out everyone knew something was wrong but I would never think something like that. I was in the front of the crowd to get into the park and Pat Koch spoke from the microphone in the Picnic Grove so I could barely hear. It was a sad moment and it ended the ERT before it started as everyone knows. My heart goes out to there friends and family and the Koch's.

When the whole weekend was over I got about twenty-five rides on Legend and about twenty on Raven. Overall it was a great event (minus the Raven accident)with great coasters and people and I can't wait to go next year!

Great meeting you, Sean! It's always nice to put a face with a screenname [something many of us did this weekend].

I agree. Glad I finally got to meet the Moosh! And Redman, and...and....too many to list

It was also nice to see some of the screen names "live". I talked to Mamoosh about the "band" right before the announcement at the pavillion.

Thanks for the trip report Sean. Sorry I did not get a chance to meet up with you. I also met a lot of new people.

While the event ended in a very sad manner, I was very impressed with how everyone handled it. It was a very sad time and everyone there knew how everyone else felt. I have never seen a better example of friendship before despite what I have heard about some people actually wanting a refund.

Things have been pretty crazy in the past 48 hours so it was nice to read a few nice trip reports when things calmed down for the day and I was able to actually check out some stuff online.
