SRM - line wait, hotels, water temp

After adding two nights of ERT last year, how long were the lines for Raven & Legend compared to a normal day (say, Saturday)?

Also isn't the water still pretty cold there then?

Where are the recommended places to stay considering low cost vs. distance? How are the Motel 6 and Comfort Inn?

Well I can say that Santa's Lodge is almost across the street. It is pretty nice there. I think it was about $80 when I booked my room several months ago.

I didn't feel that the lines were bad. 10 - 15 minutes.

Last year the water, which wasn't cold by any means, was a nice welcome. It was already at least 80 degrees (probably more like 85) at the 9 am ERT schedule time.

Can't help with hotels, we camp.

I've heard that the lines on a busy Saturday for both Raven and Legend can get to be an hour long...SRM waits last year were about 10-15 minutes throughout ERT.

It gets very humid in southern Indiana, so no worries about the water temp. It was SO REFRESHING last year!

I've only ever stayed at Satan's Lodge, which I highly recommend (assuming you can get a room at this late date).

Lines during ERT last year were longer than 10-15 min...more like 20-40 min. But because you're having such a good time and the crews are so fast you don't notice the wait. Trust me you'll get *plenty* of rides over 2 nights.

The water temp in Splashin Safari was cool enough to shock you slightly when you first got wet but warm enough to be extremely comfortable.

As for hotels...man, if you don't have a room in the area now I'd be willing to bet you're outta luck. Here is a Yahoo search of hotels in the area...good luck ;)

But 20-40 minutes is only 10-15 in "Bass-time" (see Solace TRs).

Last year, Raven usually had the longest line due to its shorter capcity. Legend's wait was about 5-10 mins while Raven's wait was about 10-20 mins.

With 2 new flats opening this year, I suspect that the lines should go down a bit. I mean how could you pass by a S&S and classic Wave Swinger and not take a spin.

As far as trying to find a place to stay... good luck. I booked my hotel a few months ago and most of the hotels within the immediate area of HW were booked. I booked a place to stay at the Days Inn in Dale which is about 10-15 mins away from the park. Still very close to the park but not to far away. My suggestion to you is check out the hotels in Dale and see if they have facancy.

Coasterman Mike - who suspects that he'll be taking quite a few spins on HW's version of IB's S&S :)

There are still rooms available in the area. I was able to book two rooms earlier today for my group at the Comfort Inn in Ferdinand, IN which is just 7 miles away from the park.
I suspect that the water will be alright, but afterall, you never know what to expect from Indiana weather. One day it's a warm 75 degrees, and then it will be snowing the next. I think we'll be alright, though.
If you just can't find a nearby hotel, check out Owensboro, KY. Only about a mere 30 minutes away, with many things to do. If you can stay until May 9th, check out the ever popular International BBQ Festival!

I don't think I'd want to stay there now! LOL

The Days Inn in Jasper still has some rooms available. Thats where I'm staying and I know of one other CBuzzer is staying. Decent rates too.
After much consideration and gnashing of teeth, I've finally decided to skip SRM this year. The kids are still a bit small for that long of a road trip for only a weekend, and as strange as this sounds, I'd rather spend the weekend with my family than most of you. ;)

On the bright side, I did cancel my room at Santa's Lodge. So, if you need a hotel room (or want one closer to the park) you might want to give them a call.

Satan's Lodge?!? LOL. What next, Holiday World relocates to Satan's Claw.

I remember waiting about 30 minutes for Raven on Saturday, and Legend about 20 minutes. Less if you ride in the middle or on Friday. Well worth it though, especially as SRM is probably the only chance you'll get to ride them in the dark.

I stayed at the Baymont in Dale, which was nice, apart from the snake outside the hotel entrance when I returned back from SRM at midnight.

No SRM for me this year :-(, but after a change to my 32 parks in 18 days trip, I will be going to HW :-)

If you Act Now (tm), you MIGHT be able to get a room at Santa's Lodge, considering I just cancelled a reservation for two of them. (Don't worry, I'll still be there, but my lodging plans have changed)

I decided not to go to SRM either. Going to CoasterBuzzCon and BeastBuzz instead. Too bad they're do close.

Since Paula hasn't posted to this thread YET, and she likely WILL, and we're already (sorta) on topic....

What is the best time of day to ride Raven?

Is Legend better after a short drizzle, or after a great downpour?

What humidity conditions make for the best rides on Zinga?

What seat should I try to get when riding HallowSwings?

I'd love to come up with more of this, but I gotta leave SOME for other people....I hate sharing, ROFL...;)

SRM, it's not just for the rides, or the people, it also provides entertaining new ways to bug their PR director...;)

rollergator, I am thinking you are kidding with those questions, because HallowSwings is one big circle, it wouldn't really matter. And Zinga is a water ride, so I don't think humidity would really matter.
