Detroit / Windsor are miserable to drive through, but the crossing at Hill Island / Ivy Lea (as shown on the google map) is a very narrow bridge with both weight and size restrictions.
Last time I headed up to PCW, cars were going across the border at Queenston without much delay, but the line of semis was about a mile long on each side of the border. Perhaps they're shipping to a more efficient crossing? Or maybe the trucker has something going on in swinging Sarnia?
I know the wait for trucks at the Windsor-Detroit crossings (both tunnel & bridge) have been excessively long (several hours or more), so maybe the wait is a bit shorter up in Port Huron.

It may be settled now, but for the record, I have driven to Cedar Point now three times, and I have to go through Cinci. In my experience, 75 has been quicker than 71. Just saying.
I would agree with you on the route. I-71 has always been longer, (esp. with the 100 mile stretch between Columbus & Cleveland). We always take I-75 to Bowling Green Univ., then through Fremont, and up to Sandusky. We have never had any good luck making time by going through Toledo. That highway from Toledo to Sandusky can treacherous truckers route IMHO.
I had forgotten all about LaRonde when I posted this, but the RCDB pic looked just like what I saw. Keep in mind though, I never said it was an inversion, I said it appeared to be one...I was passing it at 70mph, didn't get to study it for too long.

Starting in cincinnati and going past columbus (about 50 to 60 miles) is Interstate 250, this highway will take you directly to Sandusky and cut almost 2hrs if you were to go all the way up to cleveland.
For me I have made it to Sandusky in 3hrs and 40mins several times, and that's going 5 miles over the speed limit and 1 pit stop
