SpongeBob SquarePants goes 3D at Paramount Parks

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Blur Studio teamed with Paramount Parks and Nickelodeon to transform the number one kids show on television into a blockbuster theme park attraction. Rendered in spectacular stereoscopic 3D, "SpongeBob SquarePants 3D" debuted at Paramount Parks theme parks across North America this spring. The motion simulator ride casts park patrons as trainee fry cooks who join SpongeBob at the Krusty Krab on a fast and funny undersea adventure in search of the ultimate Krabby Patty.

My kids love SpongeBob, so hopefullly the attraction will be well done!!
It was ok, sound was bad, 3D effects were fair. It was something different, but I have seen better. I know they are VERY different, but something like Corkscrew hill (IMO that is better than some coasters!) would be perfect. Spongebob is good for PGA though with Nick Central right next to it.

Hell, I love Spongebob. Having kids just gives me an excuse. :)

Dorney Park Visits in 2003: 2

GoliathKills, which park did you ride Spongebob at? I have to say, I rode it at PCW this past weekend, and I really liked it. The sound was great (could hear everything, nice and loud, etc.). I thought that the 3D effects were appropriate for the ride, and were well done. This is one of the better 3D rides that I have seen, especially when they actually used the "real" voices!

Overall though, the ride was great, and it was nice to see that the ride stuck close to the storyline of the TV show.

I saw the show at PGA. The sound could have been loud and it still wouldn't have made me happy. I guess I just like more action and this felt rather tame, even for a simulator.

The 3D wasn't effective, this was from using converging 3D which isn't natural. The 3D-ness of the 2D cartoon also didn't translate. Not as fun as the show.*** This post was edited by Danimator 5/12/2003 1:17:04 AM ***
At least Canada's Wonderland has been changing the motion simulator rides annually instead of leaving us with the same stale stuff.
Go to www.pki.com. Other Parks, PGA.

I Hate Spongebob he gets on your Nerves. But I Love Patrick, Because he's boring...
