[Ed. note: While not strictly industry news, the popularity of the SpongeBob character and licensed use at various theme parks makes it a somewhat relevant story. -J]

He lives in a pineapple under the sea but has fans in more than 170 countries, a theme-park ride and is one of the best-connected celebrities in the world. Now cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants is celebrating his 10th anniversary on television, a major milestone for any star.

The Spongebob rides at Noah's Ark, and esp. at MoA, are huge winners. The ride at Funtown Pier, was themed by a 3rd-grade art class....the op laughed at us (not with us) for riding. ;)

God, I love Alton Brown. He's made Thanksgiving AWESOME! He has the best specials and shows.

I told my house mates that Spongebob is 10, and they all freaked out and one of them said, "Wow, that makes me feel old."

Just got finished watching Square Roots: The Story of Spongebob

Definitely something to try to catch if you're a fan or interested in or curious about the show. Fun little documentary-style thing. Not sure when or if it runs again, but you might want to keep an eye out. Good stuff.

Best Spongbod episode: Band Geeks.

Thanks Gonch. I'll keep a lookout for that.

Am I the only adult here who hugs Spongebob and Patrick when I see him at the parks? lol

That's still a classic, and I don't watch that much Spongebob. I also like the Krusty Towers episode.

"Now We Are Men" from the first movie never fails to crack me up. I actually had to pick the DVD up, to my husband's head-shaking wonder. "As in "Why the **** did you buy that?"
