Spinning Coaster to appear at '04 IX Indoor Carnival

Coaster fans in Northeast Ohio will be pleased to hear that the IX Indoor Amusement Park has booked in a "Spinning Coaster" for the 2004 season. This is the 15th year for the annual carnival, which is put on by Bates Amusements of Wintersville, Ohio. No info was given as to who the manufacturer is or who they booked it from... but it is nice to know that a spinning coaster will be coming through Northeast Ohio.

The IX Indoor Amusement Park runs from April 8 through May 2, 2004. Admission is $18 which includes parking this year. Discount tickets will be available at Marc's stores for $15. Here's a link to the website:

It gets better and better every year. The drop ride was amazing. I talked to the operator, and he claimed Bates produced it inhouse! And the "Club" with a Music Video DJ was a great idea. I'm looking forward to riding a new coaster this winter.

Do your self a favor and do not play the mullet game.

<Content type="Explaination">The mullet game is a game you can play with two or more people, and everytime you see a mullet, you hit your victim of choice and say mullet. Played similarly as the punch bug game, but you have to keep quiet, otherwise the mullet 'folk will hear you. Minus 10 points for mullet conversations. *** Edited 2/13/2004 3:06:28 PM UTC by Zero-G***

Jes, your victim of choice will be covered in bruises in the first 10 minutes if you play that game at the IX Center. There are mullets everywhere!

The Indoor Carnival may not be one of the best in tems of ride line-up, but there are a few rides worth a spin- the Pinfari Zyklon, a particularly wicked Dartron Downdraft (which has seen more than its share of technicolor yawners), two well-run Chance Yo-Yo's, the very first Chance Inverter, and the permanent IX Wheel which soars through the roof and affords guests "stunning" views of the airport runway next door.

I've been to 12 of these darn things and keep trying to tell myself to stay away... but this year, the Spinning Coaster lure may be too strong!

My guess is it's a Reverchon mouse.

Yeah, probably Steve's or AOA's.

Clarification for folks who might be confused by it: It's actually the IX Indoor Amusement Park. They don't call it a carnival.

Am I the only one that thinks that the timing of the IXIAP every year is a little late in the winter/spring? The real amusement parks in the area are starting to open up a week after the IX closes.

You're not the only one. I'd much rather see the IX done earlier in the year.

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

Since most carnivals take the winter off for repairs, reconditioning and rest I can see why Bates takes this long to start IX. For the most part the carnivals that operate during the winter in Florida or Puerto Rico have thier winter quarters in Florida, so they are not far from home to do overhauls, major repairs, etc.
