Spiderman, dying.

While I'll admitt that I'm in the camp that thinks the "other" 200mil attraction is the better one and that the "cheap" 'video game on wheels' in the self-same complex is tighter, I cannot imagine Spidey "dying". I've only been on the ride a handfull of times (still enough to know the words) and I *did* notice the water missing on a few of those times. But even if you took away about a dozen little effects, it would still be an "Amazing" (pun intended) ride.

The *one* effect that *cannot* malfuction though is the fall. That ONE effect makes it worth the hour+ line!

Stitch: Zzzzooooommmm!!! You didn't even see that before it went right over your head, did you? ;-)

How in the world could you ever tell that something was slowing down or not working correct? There is so much going on visually on that ride that I would think it would be nearly impossible. Then again, I've only been on it one time.

OK, I've probably got as many trips on Spidey as any non-employee, and the "fall" isn't QUITE up to what it once was. In the "early" days, there were many more computer timing malfunctions...(got several re-rides that way). Sure, sometimes one or two of the effects aren't working properly, but it's still "Amazing" (thanks Hostyl)....

I do wonder whether the malfunctions are computer-related (costly) or just maintenance of the machinery (cheaper, relatively speaking)....

Dying...NO. Does he need a check-up, yeah, it's *about* time for one of those...(this Winter, perhaps)....

Went on twice in March and have no complaints. Everything seemed perfect. Wish I was on it now :(
I went on it twice in July and everything was about 2 seconds behind. Not really anything to complain about, it was still cool.

Went in june and the first time one of the guys voices did not project, but otherwise seemed right on (on every ride) and just as great as my rides on it in Jan 2001 - but with fewer breakdowns. Try again another day and you very well might a more sync'd ride. Moreover, you may just be adjusting to the sensory drop, just as the first drop on a roller coaster does not seem as thrilling as it once may have.
Matter of fact, I just got back from my IOA trip today. The Spiderman ride pretty much stopped working when I was on it. Several screens flickered in and out, only to stop working all together. Even my friend noticed things that weren't right, and he's only been on it once before.
LOL, Stitch, "taering" it "doun" was a joke. It's due, not do.

Arrow Engineer: "Well, we just tested the prototype Suspended with an inversion and the car broke off the stick thing. We plan to reuse the stick things on a future prototype called a 4th dimension."

Ive rode it in '99, 2000, 2001, and just a month a go and think that if anything it has gotten better. The only bad thing about it are the glasses. They really need to order some more.

Since Jeff made Track Record a "perk" for CB members i'll just post my count here: Coasters:99 Parks:14

I just rode Spidey twice this past Friday...gotta agree with HurricaneGeauga -- EVERYTHING was working! Every single effect was working flawlessly througout the whole ride! I was seriously impressed.

Speaking of IOA, it will take one HELL of a park to beat IOA in my opinion. Everytime I go back I like it more and more. They are getting better and better at handling crowds too. I can't get enough of that park!

It tastes like burning.

A day at Cedar Point beats IOA easily, with one hand tied behind their backs.

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

You can't compare them. It's apples and oranges. Cedar Point is good for coasters and rides, but IOA is better for overall experience.

How can any park even a Disney or Universal park afford to spend $200 million on a single ride. Six Flags or Paramount would complain if a single coaster costs 1/10th that much ($20 million). If those parks would be willing to or can afford to spend $200 million on a single coaster they would be able to build a heavily themed 700 foot tall Intamin monster with 5 miles of track!!! And yes I have heard that Intamin said that they could do it using the type of supports that MF uses. And if I would win a $1 billion (if it would ever get that big) jackpot from the new Mega Million and have over $200 million cash left over I'd build myself a 700 foot tall, 5 mile long Intamin monster SMASHING all worlds records!! :-) Either that I'd donate that to any year round park willing it build it!

You just did. ;)

I used to think that too, but a trip back to IOA changed that. Dragons seemed better, Hulk seemed better, and I got on Ripsaw Falls for the first time. Jurassic Park and Ripsaw falls could be the best water rides of all time. IOA is definitely my favorite park, but maybe a trip back to CP would change my mind. They have added a lot of stuff since then.

Legendary: It took us an hour just to get into the park. Not all the ticket windows were open. But after getting into the park, I agree, they handled the crowds well.

all of this is totaly speculation, why is this still open??

All of what is totally speculation? What are you talking about?

It's not "speculation", djhush. It's a collection of opinions. No one is saying that Spiderman is going anywhere... just opinons that the ride isn't quite what it used to be (or that it is what it used to be... depending on your point of view).

-----------------
Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

i really feel like awarding something special to djhush...
