Space Mountain Ride Layout

What is the Exact layout of Space Mountain???  Does anyone have pics of it with the lights on or something?  I was just wondering becuase its such a long ride (3,000 plus feet) in a small space!!!

My Top steel: Millennium Force, Magnum XL-200, Raging Bull, Desperado, Speed the Ride. Wood: Viper, American Eagle, Twister II, Zeus, Cyclops.
I've seen it somewhere on the web.  It's a little bit like a mouse with low speeds and tight turns though not as tight as a mouse.

I'm unsure of their accuracy, of course.

Uh oh...cat's out of the bag! I haven't been on Florida's, but the Disney scetch seems accurate. Very cool!

It looks like that Space Moutnain at WDW is funner, but I think DL's is.
.....Interesting..........

DL's is better becuase of the soundtrack, but it has issues of being relible recently.
Both rides are the most frequently broken down rides I've ever seen. I also found it to be quite dissapointing, but I guess that's coz I'd been on Dueling Dragons, The Incredible Hulk, and Rockin' Roller Coaster before hand. Mind you, I liked it when I was 10, as well as Big Thunder Mountain, but the two rides seem to have lost their Disney novelty to me. Oh well.

Something Funny And Witty Goes Here

I remember Space Mountain at DL being alot faster.  But I rode it like 8 years ago...then in November, 2001.  So needless to say I was bigger in November.  But it seemed to lose something in 8 years.  Did they get new trains?  Since I remember sitting in front of my mom (like whizzer at SFGAm) and now, Space mountain is side by side.

No matter how many other coasters I'va ridden in life, Space Mountain at WDW still ranks in my top 5.  Sure, Millennium Force and Phantom's Revenge beat it, but it's just something about the ride that makes it so great.

If you see me running, try and keep up!

Space Mtn. at DL has always been side by side seating. Space Mtn. at WDW has always been in-line seating.

The only change to DL's were the headrests with speakers. The only change to WDW's were the lap bars.

You know what's funny, is that among the community, these are 2 of the least talked about coasters, yet their 2 of the most famous, you know?  I mean, everybody's heard of Space Mountain.

I remember Space Mountain being like they craziest ride ever, but then again I was like 5.

"This Movie spent way to much money on special effects, look they couldnt even afford to buy those little dudes shoes!"
I saw the inside of the building when I was younger. When I was there the ride was closed down for maintenance, and i got to see the whole inside of the building. This was the one at MK.
Space Mountain in Florida reminded me of Matterhorn at Disneyland, but indoors. Two tracks, single file seating, and even a similar ride experience: more rough and with a more "simple" feel. I like Space Mountain DL much better because it just feels like you're flying through space since it's so smooth and "fast". At Florida it is too rough to be flying on air ;)
There is something about Space Mountain WDW that has always stuck in my mind.  Aside from being a really fun ride, The mountain itself is the third highest point in Florida.  Being from Colorado, I find that really funny, and at the same time kind of sad.

Isn't the Space Mountain at WDW 2 different coasters? I know there is an alpha track and an omega track. If I remember correctly they are slightly different.
Yes, there are 2 tracks on the one in WDW.  I've always loved the look of the building, its very unique.  The ride used to be extremly rough until they got new cars, which let riders sit by themselves instead of with another rider in their lap. Not sure when the new cars were added.
I always wished they would let you pick where you wanted to sit because the best seat by far is the very back.  There is a spot, which is beside the lift hill, where it drops really fast, makes you feel like your going to fly right out.
Space Mountain in WDW  is in my top 5 also.  Mostly because of the themeing, great tunnels with sound effects, and that awesome drop next to the lift hill. It also has that extremly long conveyer belt that takes you past scenes of the future when you exit the ride.
The whole ride alway's makes me think of Tron for some reason.  I know Space Mountain was built before Tron was released so i've always wondered if they used the style of the building when designing some of the look of Tron.
