Space Mountain

Does anyone know any details about the two year rehab for SM? I overheard from an employee about a year ago that the new trains would be purple with gold highlights. I emailed the official site and this is what they said:

"Space Mountain is currently closed for refurbishment and is scheduled to
relaunch as part of the Disneyland 50th Anniversary celebration in the spring of
2005. While we realize there is no convenient time to close an attraction, this
closure gives us the opportunity to complete all of the necessary enhancements
at once. Some of the enhancements will include digital technology and an
integrated audio sound system."

This may be wishfull thinking, but it would be nice if the submarine voyage and peoplemover/rocket rods sites would have new attractions by then.

I do remember seeing a pic of the new trains over a year ago from some site somewhere. And yeah, they were purple and gold and looked pretty spiffy. But anything can change between back then and when it opens so what the final trains looks like is anyones guess.

As for the Submarine Voyage...it may be coming back up by the end of this year. They are reportedly looking into that option now. With Space closed they desperately need another attraction open in Tomorrowland. Wouldn't be surprised if they reopened the 360 degree movie either...all under the guise of a historical 50th celebration. And yeah..it'd be nice, but I wouldn't count on anything on the PM/RR track anytime soon.
