With the exception of a couple of media day issues, I don't claim to know of one example where a rider was injured, but let's remember that the rules are in place to protect us from riders who *don't* have a firm grip on their equipment.
Off of the soapbox now...

The rules are so inconsistent it's not even funny.

Do you think someone with a several hundred dollar camera doesn't know how to hold on?Yep, just like I expect people driving several thousand dollar automobiles not to wreck them. That's why no one here has ever been in or seen an automobile accident, right?
When you see the color picture, it does make it clear that it is Vortex, however the picture was taken when Vortex was terribly faded and the blue is a really light blue, not the trademark dark blue.
Also, in regards to the Handycam ad.... I may be wrong, but I believe that the coaster used in the US ad is "Tremors" at Silverwood in Idaho. I assume this because the coaster is going into a tunnel before a large upward climb and turn. Also, the train is a medium blue PTC with no headrests.

Okay Bogeymon please tell me how many people you know of that have been hit by a camera while riding a coaster? Even fourth hand information from a friend of a friend of a sister of the dippin dots guy. I've been going to parks for over 40 years, talked to hundreds of people, been on RRC since its inception along with several message boards, and have yet to hear of one story--NOT ONE--that involves an accident with a camera.

It was kinda bizarre, actually, reminded me of the scene near the beginning of The Matrix when Neo drops his cell phone off the side of the office building where he works. It started out moving really slowly, then suddenly accelerated straight at me. I couldn't decide whether I wanted to try to avoid it or try to catch it, but in the end, I didn't have time to choose either, and got whacked in the forearm by it. It actually kinda hurt. I ended up shouting forward on the brake run, apologizing for not catching it :)
That being said, I think most people who take a camera on the ride are hanging on a LOT more tightly than someone who just has a cell phone stuck somewhere. I assume, in this case, it was on a belt or something, as mine has never even come close to threatening coming out of my pocket. However, if I had my camera and was taking pictures, I'd be hanging on *really* tight.

Who hopes that this person wasn't taking the phone out to try to answer it while flying up Xcelerator...
The only other natural wood coasters I can think of with blue PTC trains would be Tonnere de Zeus or the Hurlers (light blue).
Edit - it *is* Tremors! I met with Nancy and Joanne [Silverwood PR] to talk about our 2004 calendar, which features Tremors, when I was at the park for CAC and they told me the good news about Tremors being picked for a Sony ad campaign.
mOOSH [which I would have remembered that sooner]
