Son Of Beast On Travel Chanel

Did anyone catch the Top 10 Megastructures last night on the Travel Chanel? Son of Beast was listed as #9.

I didn't catch it last night, but I did see it before on that show. The only thing I didn't like was the "fake" water and landscaping they had. I wish SOB's landscape would look something like that.
Darn, I missed it! I missed the extreme rides episode with Top Thrill Dragster as well. Are they going to replay any of them?

No, they never replay *anything* on cable! ;)

Yup...they showed the mechanics making inspections and some on-ride shots. Cool stuff.

While I haven't seen this particular show in a while, I do remember the water and landscaping shown in the program.

I think that the video for the Son of Beast clip was probably shot shortly after SOB opened. This would mean that the effects of construction would still be seen. The pools of water and landscaping, which are gone now, were probably present a short while after opening. I could be wrong about this ( and please correct me if I am ) but I dont think the water and landscaping were fake.

I don't remember seeing any water or landscaping when SOB fristed opened. I could be wrong. I have not saw this show everyone is talking about. I rode SOB when it was open for 6 weeks after they fixed it.
No, I don't remember seeing any water or landscaping when SOB first opened either...

I lied.

I was there when it first opened, plus it's my home park. Yes, the video that PKI used did have the water, etc., but there is no water around it at all then and now. Just plain ole chunks of wood and land.
I have to say, as a wooden structure Sonny's lift hill is absolutely spectacular.

If I was part of a coaster, I would be an upstop pad on an Arrow Mine Train.
MAGNUM HAD MY BABY!

Very much agreed duckboy. That lifthill is just massive and spectacular looking.

As far as the ride itself goes, well, uhh, err, umm, did we mention the lifthill is massive and spectacular looking? ;)

Arena football has arrived in the Windy City. Go "Chicago Rush"

Awww come on Scott, you don't like the amazing jackhammering, knee smashing, and spine compression?

That ride is tops when it comes to that stuff ;)

You can complain about SOB all you want, but it's loop is the best anywhere, bar none. You cant beat it.

The Millenium Force ride Ops: Squishing you where it counts since 2000.
Track Record: 62 coasters at 17 parks.

The "water" on the on ride movie that was taken for media day in 2000, was not water. It was grass seed that the park had planted with green stuff to fertilize and protect it from erosion and animals. From the video, it appears to be water.

sob feels great. Love the feeling of a coaster having its way with you :)
It can have its way if it wants, I just ask that it treat me kindly, maybe dinner and a movie...
