Son of Beast

Has anyone noticed the SOB trains sitting by the maintnance shed behid The Racers?? We were there today and they are sitting right outside. It is definetly a third train. Are they going to use it? How long has it been back there?

That is alllll........

Were they there when we were up there? Maybe it's floor isn't raised up to your shins. ;)

Sorrrrrrrry folks! Parks closed. The moose out front should have told you.

They are definetely the crappy Premier trains. At 7,000 feet they should run a third train.

Holiday World, it's impossible not to have a good time

At NoCoasterCon in 2001, Jeff Siebert mentioned that the park is getting what they consider an acceptable capacity on the ride with two trains and that there was no need for the third.

If that holds up we'll see, but I can't imagine them running three any time in the future. It would be nice to have that train ready to go though, if one of the trains breaks down midday.

Whoa that was pretty cool." -- Reaction to first flip over on X-Flight

It would be nice to have a third train "on call." I don't see why they would just let it sit out like that. They are pretty expensive to just leave sit there.

You don't have to shout. Do you know how many internet etiquette laws your breaking by typing in all caps like that? Well........your breaking one. Don't type in all caps.

LOL. That was the only time i was on a ride worrying about if i disconfigured my body to much to be able to removed myself from the trains.

I dont think i've waited longer than 30 mins for SOB in a year and a half! I dont see any copacity problems with it now.
If you would have paid any attention while rideing SOB this year you would have noticed they were running trains 2 and 3. I dont really see the point of ahving 3 trains becaue you would ahve to stack the trains and even then they would be set-up.
Yes if they did run three trains occasionall one would have to be stopped on the mid course and then there would always be one stacked up on the break run. Not a good thing. It's fine how it is now and I doubt they'll change it unless they get new trains which I hope they do. Cough cough PTC cough cough

-----------------
It's his turn to feast, when you ride the Son of Beast.

See the things is, Son of Beast is usually stacked atleast one time in 10 minutes. One in the breaks and one in the station. They are getting very acceptable capacity with 2 and 3 probably wouldn't make the capacity better it would make it worse.

Yes, but that doesn't address the issue of why they can't have the third train sitting in the holding area (whatever it's called) instead of by the maintenance shed. Maybe it's being worked on, I don't know. But if it isn't I agree with eric that they should keep it ready to go in case of something happening to one of the other trains. Isn't there room for two trains in the holding area (again, brain fart and I know the word I'm looking for, aarrggh), I thought there was.
Does PKI run 3 trains on any of their coasters? Both times Ive been there 2 was the max.

Hmmmm I haven't been this season and see them run less than 3 on Beast, Vortex, and Adventure Express. I think they are probably toying with it (3rd train) seeing if they can make the ride a lil more comfortable.

From last check, there were only five cars by the maintenance shed by FoF. SoB trains have six cars. One car is not there, which I find slightly odd. PKI has had three trains for SoB since they built it. The third train will eventually probably be used as spare parts for the two operating ones. For example, Flight of Fear used to have four trains. Now they only have two trains on the track and last I knew, one of the trains was sitting by the old monorail shed. (Its since been moved). FoF was always stacking when it operated with four trains, not to mention the trains when stacked were only a few inches away from each other.

PKI usually runs 3 trains on Vortex, The Beast, and Adventure Express, 2 trains on Top Gun, Son of Beast, Flight of Fear, and Beastie, and 1 train on Face/Off, Top Cat's Taxi Jam, and Runaway Reptar, and 4 trains for The Racer and Ghoster Coaster(I think?), all of which is probably the max amount they've always run I believe except for FOF. I think most people don't mind that about FOF though since it enables them to leave the midcourse off.

2 trains on face/off would be interesting...

Ya, I'd rather wait a few more minutes for a better ride.

Hmmm. Yes it would, maybe Six Flags should try it on there "Invertigos on steriods" first and see how it turns out.

That ride is bumpy. I'd rather stick to Millenium Force, Wicked Twister, Magnum XL-200, and Raptor

Magnum is red,
Millenium Force is blue,
I love Wicked Twister,
and Raptor too.
