Something Odd

Today while at Six Flags Astroworld, I witnessed something very odd. In front of Greezed Lightnin, the parks Schwartzkopf shuttle loop, I heard the train launch. I turned around wanting to see the riders' faces, and was surprised to see the train did not launch at the correct speed. It slowly made its way to the loop, didn't even make it 1/4 of the way up, then rolled backwards and stopped in the brakes. I had never seen anything like this before! Does it happen often? Just wanted to share my story with everyone. By the way, I rode the parks 150 foot skycoaster for the first time today, and it was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had! Can't wait to ride it again!

Rollbacks/missfires happen to everyone....it shouldn't be anything to worry about...I've been on a missfire before, and it was fixed in minutes!

Sky coasters are awesome.! Closest to flight I have ever expierenced. Glad you enjoyed :)

This would happen occasionally at SFOG's Viper... sometimes the ride's launching system didn't engage as planned, and a misfire would occur. No big deal.

Occasionally it would get enough power to go through the loop, but not enough to make it back through, resulting in a valley.

When King Kobra was at PKD, it had numerous problems. I once witnessed the train travel the entire course forwards, then bacwards through the station and up the back spike, then forwards straight through the station again and about 1/3 of the way up the loop. It kept going back and forth until its static energy was spent (basically, the brakes failed causing the train to valley near the station). I believe it was the very next year that KK began operating at Jolly Roger.

Possible, had it been while people were riding. I forgot to mention that it was just testing when I watched it malfunction.
